Default Six-Axis? Opinions

I have a customer coming in tomorrow to buy a PS3 or a Wii, and wants my Opinions on the 2, I've done all the research I need to do on Both in the Past. But Came up short when i was Thinking about Six-Axis.

So what are your Opinions? I know Lair Overkilled it.... So tell me what games you think Did the Best Job of it, because he wants motion sensitivity, but doesn't really like the Games the Wii has to offer. Normally, we don't sell video game systems, but we had a few ps3s and ps3 games come in on an Oppurtune Buy, and then Wiis from a Dying Retailer. So we Don't carry Wii Games at all.

I know I like Warhawk for it's choice of Six-Axis and Spiderman 3 had the Goblin which was fun. So what do you think of the Feature? What games do you think Use it well?

Neither system by the sounds of it.

Wii = focus of motion sensing games

Don't like Wii-style games.. you're out of luck.

To add to that list:

Blazing Angels
Super Rub-a-Dub

I like the motion sensing in these games.

The SixAxis is great when used in moderation. Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted both did a great job finding cool ways to implement it into the gameplay. MGSIV will also make moderate use of it. Most driving games like Motorstorm give you the option to drive with the SixAxis. Lair was horrible, though. The Bowling game from the PS Store is better with the SixAxis than Wii Sports bowling is with the WiiMote, and this comes from someone who has owned both consoles since launch.

There is very little exciting coming for the Wii. It sounds like there'll be nothing there for him except a $250 paperweight, based on the description you gave. Personally, my Wii hasn't seen an ounce of playtime since beating Super Mario Galaxy in November 07. I love Nintendo, but it's $250 I wish I had back for Blu-Ray's and PS3 games.

If he doesn't like Wii games, then under no circumstances should you recommend the Wii. It's a console that's not going to get any better over time like the PS3. If he has the money and willingness to buy a PS3 -- with the games out and upcoming, the Blu Ray, media server, and HD functionality, Home, and future expanse of the PS Store -- I think it's a no brainer.

If you take motion control out of a wii game, what are you left with? A re-released gamecube game that probably didn't sell well in the first place. I have a wii and I've come to the conclusion that they've shoehorned motion control into most of the games with little regard to whether it works or not (need for speed carbon for instance).

If you remove the motion control from a PS3 game, it is still a next gen console game like you'd find on the 360.

Six-Axis=better then Dual Shock in my opinion like for instance Folklore and Enchanted Arms. Wii controls are annoying and drive me nuts

Folklore and Lair was the best six axis games I've played.
Heavenly Sword had some good six axis scenes, especially when shooting the canon and controllering the ball. Playing twing twang, controlling the arrow was great. Lair for me, the six axis was good. High Velocity bowling, like one said before, destroyed Wii's bowling, and the six axis is awesome on it. Fantastic four had a cool six axis scene when flying with one of the characters, but I didnt enjoy that game to finish, like one said before how he's wii was collecting dust, so was mine, so I sold it. If he really wants a cool six axis game, Folklore and heavenly sword I would say are great, motorstorm six-axis was too sensitive for me, unless you switched into the up close view, then it was a little easier to steer it felt like for some reason. Well IMO thats the games I thought was cool with the six axis

Maybe I just wasn't doing something right, but the controls on Lair for me were completely unresponsive. Like the whole, "rapdily raise the SixAxis to do a 180 degree turn" or whatever it was, never worked for me. I could sit there and fling the damn control up all day and nothing would give. If the controller would have just worked for me, the game had serious potential.

Other than that experience, I have enjoyed the sixaxis.

Ratchet n Clank, Heavenly Sword, Resistance, Folklore all used the Sixaxis fantastically.

Yeah LAIR probably overkilled it, but ive never played any other game where it was a negative (mostly because if you DIDNT like it you could turn it off)

For every lair, the wii has probably 10+ games where the motion sensing is just an annoying gimmick. Thats probably due to the fact that the Wii is a shovelware makers dream. Take ancient looking graphics, slap on motion sensing and market it to little kids and BOOM $20 down the drain for some poor kid/parent. Even though it has a few hundred more titles than the PS3, the Wii definitely has less top-quality games.

Well said!

Not to mention Wii games that only use the wiimote with no motion feel awkward. Holding the wiimore sideways feels stupid plus it has 2 buttons....is this 1986?

on the Wii, super paper mario barely used it, and i was fine with it, and same with pokemon....but that's different. I don't like the motion controls on Supaer Mario Galaxy

Kid came back and bought a PS3. Told him about Lair, and although he did his research, he still wanted it.

I think I may rent it now
