I really liked reading your review, you write better than 95% of the reviewers on commercial portals, no kidding

But from reading your review I felt your expectations from a Mira Nair film where high and you were let down (and that's fair). Kamasutra ought to be striked off from her repertoire, for that matter most big budget attempts by MN ought to be!

My comment to your original post was "hate" is a strong word for a film like MW. The film was made in 2001 and the attempts at humor - the dubbing artist, the talk show, women comparing breast sizes etc. - were not done before really so was interesting. The very premise of a loud punjabi family and their workings that seem terribly irritating now, didn't seem so forced then. And the film, despite dealing with every topic under the sun, had a easy, laid-back feel to it. People spoke English like people speak it in Delhi and not as homogenized as Hollywood productions make it!

And as you pointed out, Mychael Danna's soundtrack/BG score is interesting and eclectic. I have this on CD and listen to it ever so often. Had it not been for this soundtrack, I would have never known the wonderful Farida Khanum.

As you can see, my takeaway from the film is very positive for a number of reasons. But to each our own.... Cheers
