You could read the hobbit in a week. If you had the time.

Even when the inevitable 3D Ultimate Extended Limited Collector's edition comes out?

Part of me has to lol at the Extended Edition Release Date getting pulled/pushed back. Warner Bros. is obviously hoping that people will double dip.

Curious as to the quality of this cut footage.

If part 1 was already extended to fill content from 2 parts to 3, is this footage really noteworthy? Can it be?

Not expecting it to be as dynamic as the EE of FOTR.

Wow, I was surprised that this first installment will be close to 3 hours. If there is an extended edition that's crazy.

the extended release of The Hobbit trilogy is going to end up being longer than the unabridged audiobook

I don't know how many remember this, but when LOTR: ROTK was released the movie had a little slip where you could order the box that housed the extended trilogy. I am hoping they do this again with the Hobbit.

I'll wait for the Extended. Knew this would happen, tho I doubt they will be as extended as LOTR. Hope the initial release is in 3D!

As with LOTR, I'll wait for the EE before buying.

There may not be an EE due to The Hobbit being broken up over 3 installments compared to the original idea of a 2 part feature.

It was confirmed on Twitter today that Peter Jackson has said that there will be an extended edition of the first film with 25-30 minutes of cut footage from the theatrical presentation.

I'm completely out of the loop on this movie. So my question is how can they stretch 1 book into a 3 movie trilogy?

It is confusing but from what I have read, we are not just getting the Hobbit book here. The three films include LOTR appendices, Unfinished Tales bits and the battles in the book (which might only take a page or two in the book) are obviously greatly expanded on I would think. I think hes going to end it as LOTR starts too so. And there will be LOTR flashbacks I think as well.

Cant wait myself!

Probably still no scouring of the Shire.

It's been expanded into more of a "Tolkien's entire Middle-Earth" project that happens to use The Hobbit narrative as it's spinal cord. So, it's actually more like 4 books being turned into 3 films, but 3 of those books don't really have "stories" to them.

http://www.firstshowing.net/2012/ext...for-late-2013/

"Warner Bros has now issued a statement (via TheOneRing.net) following the spread of this news that unconfirms an Extended Edition. Here's what they've released: "In the recently distributed calendar included in the Warner Bros. 90th Anniversary press kit, there was an erroneous mention of an Extended Edition release for The Hobbit film. This product has not been confirmed yet and we apologize for any confusion." Of course it hasn't been concerned, because Peter Jackson is still trying to finish up An Unexpected Journey before he begins thinking about the Extended Edition. We still expect to see it anyway, but we probably won't hear anything about it until the first Hobbit movie hits theaters first."

Mods can you move this thread to the wish list section?
