So did I. Well, love is a bit strong... but as I've said elsewhere. It's certainly eons better than TDK.

But that doesn't mean it didn't letdown a lot of people who actually loved those first two films.

Anyway, why argue? Someone's list... wow... who cares?
Haha. Got Em!!

U think u know it all Mr. Dragon Tattoo shoes. I just typed a sentence or two about what I think about these movie groups that think what they say is superior to us common folks. Shouldnt u be watching Dragon for the 100 time right now? Got Em!!

He grounded it in realism and the themes that he strung through the entire trilogy is widely admired. Nolan's ambitious attempt to make Batman more than just a comic book movie was great and out of the three movies he did a damn good job. The Dark Knight is the best comic book ever made and it was a tough act to follow but I think he did a great job. I don't think making TDKR his most ambitious work is a flaw. Sure you can point out plot holes but that's easy because there is a lot more going on in TDKR than there was in The Avengers. That doesn't make The Avengers better. It just makes it a simpler more jaunty story (and there is nothing wrong with that at all. It's just a different kind of movie).

But I don't feel like continuing this on. I just figured I'd make my last pitch about why I prefer The Dark Knight Rises. It's not how I think everyone else should feel. It's just how I feel. I respect your opinion and I hope you respect mine.
Actually The Avengers is the best comic book movie ever made. TDK is probably top 10 though. Got Em!!

Lol at the marvel fanboys all butthurt on the first page. Both the dark knight rises and the avengers on are my personal top 10 for the year. In my opinion Lincoln doesn't belong there.

I never said horror films get the respect they're due, I said that you overstated your point when you claimed none are respected. And why does it matter? What effect do you tangibly feel when Halloween isn't on the AFI's list? I love that movie more than my wife and life itself*, and you don't see me in a corner slashing my wrists. Just read one of these lists instead if it means that much to you:

http://www.timeout.com/london/featur...t-horror-films

http://www.flickchart.com/Charts.aspx?genre=Horror

http://www.filmsite.org/horrorfilms5.html

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/top/be...s/?category=10

http://deadteenagermovies.blogspot.c...er-movies.html

I think you'll like that last one, becuaes I know you're a Scream fan, and it does quite well. Although, most of those do mention King Kong so maybe they won't work for you.

Also, speaking as a horror fan, I would say that in my opinion The Cabin In The Woods is far from one of the best films of the year.

* Not really.

Oh, and as it relates to the other discussion happening, The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises are both mediocre films. Got Em!!
Well just to be clear the only King Kong film that I have seen was the 2005 version and to me its not horror. I may have seen the original film when I was little but dont remember it much. Maybe the 2 films are different I dont know. If u consider the remake a horror film the I dont know what to tell u. Also I said Nolan tried to make TDKR a realistic drama. I never said I believed those things could happen. Also Scream is a great film but I like many other horror films better. I really dont care about those list but I hate when people act like those list mean anything and post them like its a correct list so I give my input. So u can name 10 films from this year that are better than TCITW? Please do. Got Em!!

I almost wanted to put the laugh emoticon instead. I liked The Avengers but man you people put that movie is what it is a comic book movie with outrageous action. It's not even close to a movie that belongs on a list like this.

This is the most entertaining thread I've read all day, and most of what is mentioned has very little to do with the AFI top films.

I personally really like TDKR and The Avengers, and I think horror movies are the best!

So because of the "type" of film it is, thats why it doesnt belong on the list? U are no different than these AFI folks. Thats what they think about horror films as most of these snobby critics and movie groups. If its horror then dont matter how good it is, it doesnt belong on a best list. Silly reason if u ask me. A god movie is a good movie no matter what genre. Got Em!!

I would agree that Lincoln is pretty overrated. I thought it dragged on at times and although Daniel Day Lewis was a great Lincoln he never had a moment that really "wowed" me so it's good to know I'm not alone there.

The thing to remember is that this is a list based on opinions. Opinions of people other than ourselves. If you feel like you need a list that reflects your year with movies make a top ten, I know I am.

Here is my opinion on the tops though...

Argo- Good, but overrated. Just seemed like a nice thrill ride to me, nothing really great.
Beasts of the Southern Wild- Really loved this!
The Dark Knight Rises- Good, but I still have a bit of a problem with the ending that I can't really put my finger on.
Django Unchained- Looks great, but I haven't it seen yet.
Les Miserables- Looks great, but I haven't it seen yet.
Life of Pi- Great Movie!
Lincoln- See above.
Moonrise Kingdom- #4 on my top 10 for this year!
Silver Linings Playbook- My theater isn't playing it so it's a pain trying to see it.
Zero Dark Thirty- Looks Great, Can't Wait!

The AFI has some nerve thinking it knows more about movies than the general public does.

Good list, I haven't seen a few of those but it looks pretty in sync with what the critics and audiences mostly thought.

I love how AFI is just BS now since they placed TDKR as one of the top films of the year... typical.

Lol CZAR cool it its only a list.

Is that a claim that was ever made by them?

The list is not "What AFI assumes the common people enjoyed most this year." You can't make a big fuss about your own right to an opinion while disregarding others equal right to it.
