Exactly and even when it does mean what they think it means more often than not their real complaint is with critical or fan reaction and not with the films or filmmakers themselves.

saw this in film school a couple of years ago (one of the worst places to be introduced to a film). instructors are always imposing their interpretations on students. whenever i tried voicing a contradicting opinion on it, i was shot down. ive always wanted to revisit this in my own time. i hope it gets a release. i'd love to check it out with a different mindset/fresh set of eyes. reconsider my own thoughts and his.
