Default Your Personal HT Secrets?

Lest hear everybody's personal Home Theater secrets, that they don't want people to know, until now.

I'll start. I don't have The Matrix on DVD. I only have the VHS version and I've been watching it for the past decade. I was going to upgrade, but I've been holding out for the Blu version for over a year now. Its the only movie I still watch on VHS.

I bought the Paradigm Studio Reference CC-690 Center Channel Speaker which is 39" wide and sets on a double pedestal stand in fron of my 60" Sony XBR SXRD. The problem with that is the top of the speaker was about 3" into the bottom of my screen viewing. I though awhile about cutting down the speaker stand, but it was metal and looks very nice, so I made a trip to KMart and went into the garden section and bought 6 patio step cement blocks, placed them underneath the TV stand, raising the screen up 4" - perfect!. Well, it looked terrible, so I went back to KMart into the fabric dept. and bought Black matte stretch material, placed it under and over the blocks, now no one who has come bye to see my set-up has any clue i raised the TV and stand up to accomidate the center channel speaker.

You can imagine how labor intensive this solution was - remove the TV off the stand, move the stand aside, place the blocks down, put the TV stand on the blocks, and restore the TV. That was before I realized I need the Black cloth, so I had to do that whole routine again. I'm quite pleased now though! [Jim]

My HDTVs have banding and can't even do 24p or motion interpolation (<- well not the proper 100/120 hz type ) and they don't even have any LED backlights - not even 96

Me too. Mainly because of price - I can then decide whether to buy the Blu-ray version if I like it a lot

Confession 1
------------
Recently bought a high-end plasma for the living room.

Decided to rearrange my electronics and finally moved the VCR to the basement. Decided it would make my setup look "cleaner".

Now I miss the VCR. I sometimes need to watch taped versions of TV shows and I have to watch them in the basement.

Confession 2
------------
Bragged about buying a $4 HDMI cable from amazon. Never actually used it. Instead used one of those $50 cables that I think are overpriced. Why? The plasma was delivered 1 day before the $4 cable arrrived, so I rushed out to buy an HDMI cable from Best Buy.

I have a Toshiba upconverting DVD player. My HDTV is only 720P (but it only is a 32" so there's not a whole lot of difference). And I actually can't wait until Moulin Rouge and Pride and Prejudice are released on Blu-Ray (I'm a guy and a former Marine). I own both The Matrix Revolutions and Reloded, but I do not own the original Matrix.

I bought an HD-DVD player and I love it! SHHH! Too bad the movie selection's gone to the toilet from the very beginning...
From the start... BLU was the way to go!
