+1. Audience-friendly?! Audience-unfriendly Id say if anything!

Yes, it is a lot of style over substance. But what style! Much like a lot of Ridley Scott films in fact. When the style is this good though, who cares?!

Probably my favorite movie I have watched in a very long time yet I still don't own it...

I've been trying to chase down the Canadian slip cover edition at a reasonable price but might just end up settling for the US release.

It helps that they couldnt have got the music more spot-on if they tried. If this one had a generic Hollywood rawk soundtrack it wouldnt have been the same. Yeah Ron Perlman is a bit over the top maybe but he doesnt spoilt it. Albert Brooks is great! Gosling and Mulligan are brilliant of course.
The music was really a perfect match! I watched it last night on netflix to see if I would want to get the blu I loved it I just hated
[Show spoiler] the tacky gore parts seemed out of place like low budget

I think the style of violence was a nod to the films it drew influence from. I like how it had an over-the-top, 70's arthouse vibe to it.

I misread the title for a second and I thought it was being re-released!

I kind of hope so. Refn himself did say there was a more definitive version being released in the future (which more special features and stuff). I think he might have been referring to a possible Criterion release.

A Criterion release would be excellent for the additional bonus content to complement an already stellar A/V presentation. Best case scenario is that they make another film and release a new deluxe edition for promo

Well there is a sequel (or at least there's going to be) in novel format. Refn also expressed interest in a sequel along with Ryan, but he said that in the end, it was probably best left how it was.

All I hope for is a better release or Criterion release.

Yea, the sequel is out already(Book). It would be best to leave it alone. This one is one of those movies that a sequel would not be better as the first, Imho

I agree.

No matter how much I loved it and it's soundtrack. It's in my Top 5 favorite films of all time.

IF there was to be a sequel to this film, I'd like for another director to tackle it, a la the Alien films. There's a possibility that Refn would just retread, which would undermine and cheapen Drive as a result. A different director would present a fresh take on the proceedings. It would also differentiate the films and make them stand apart.

Obviously it'd be best if they could just leave this film alone. Except until this rumored ultimate-edition comes to the blu-ray fore.

Michael Bay?

Id like Refn himself to do a sequel/prequel and noone else.

Agreed. But I don't want a sequel.

Now with the Millennium books, I want David Fincher (and only David Fincher) to make the other two sequels. And I really want those sequels.

THe "Queen" edition was nothing more than a pipe dream bassed on a single rumour before the BD came out. I doubt we will see anything new anytime soon.
