Default Warner Germany ending HD DVD support in March?

Hi,

found this on http://www.areadvd.de/index3.html: All Warner HD DVD are cancelled in Germany after "Jesse James" .

Warner streicht HD DVD-Veröffentlichungen im April und Mai

06.03.2008 (Karsten Serck)

Somebody posted a translation in eproductwar.com yesturday (not sure how reliable that was). Anyways the articles appears to state that Warner will cancel all planned HD DVD releases after march.

Exactly. As I already summarized in my post above. Details concern only the German market, but perhaps it means that warner will also stop releasing HD DVD in the US earlier than thought.

I believe Warner Japan has done this too... I think the US might be the only one to hold out, though I wonder why Warner has to continue when even Universal and Paramount aren't... seems like a waste of resources (and quality blu-ray discs due to needing to make and HD DVD as well)

Warner Japan has done that

Essentially the installed base outside the US isn't big enough to justify discs that will only be on the shelves for a few months
