My Veritas V Mini's just arrived. Bigger than I thought they would be but look absolutely stunning. I'll be out of town for Christmas, but I'll post pics around the New Year. Merry Christmas, folks!

Hey everyone...

I was wondering if anybody could give me some advice on my setup. Right now I have CF30s for my fronts and a Polk CS10 center. The Polk center doesn't match my set up in my opinion. I was looking at the veritas V5.2 center, as it is on sale. Do you guys think that the center would match the CFs well enough? Would it out shine my towers? Would the veritas be a worthwhile upgrade? I have a marantz NR1501 receiver and CB5s for rears, if that matters.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ok best match for the CF-30 would be the CC-10 for sure, now you are asking if the Veritas upgrade over the CF-30 is worth while, I say yes but you would have to match your front sound stage at least and you could keep the CB-5 as surrounds.

Veritas will be so much better for music if that has any importance to you. The Veritas have a much better dynamic range and better depth to their sound and the resolution is above and beyond what the CF can do, that being said the CFs are no slouch but the Veritas do outperform them by a significant margin.

Thanks for the reply, Al. I originally was going to grab the CC-10, but I saw the V5.2 center for only $249 on amazon. I am basically wondering if the quality of the veritas center would outweigh the difference in sound it may produce compared to the CF30s. I know they use similar tweeters, but from what I understand, there are some significant differences. From the sound of it, you would say that timbre matching is more important?

Like I said before, I was rocking a Polk center with the energys and it didn't match at all. If I did get the veritas center, how closely do you think it would match? Ive heard excellent things about the veritas center, which is why I was trying to make it work, but a blended front stage is definately a priority coming off of the Polk.

Thanks for the help!

I did not experience blending 2 Energy products together, I use to own the previous connoisseur line, the C-500 and C-C100, wish you could audition to compare, I am seriously unsure about matching Veritas center with the CF-30, your guess is as good as mine. How much are the smallest towers going for?

I saw the towers going for $299 each on Vanns, but they were sold out. That seems like an incredible deal. Do you think that the step up to those from the CF 30 would be a significant one? If so maybe I'll pick up the veritas center and keep my eye on Vanns to restock. I could use the CF30 as sides and move my CB5s to the rear for 7.1. That might be a formidable set up!

the veritas and cfs are pretty close sounding, but not exact.

Yeah, that's in timber matching but is resolution and dynamic range, the Veritas outperforms the CF hands down.

I know you know that and you heard the difference.

Indeed an incredible deal, I hope they do restock at some point, if you decide to go that route. you could always ask Vann if they will restock or are they defenately done with the Veritas as Audiovox will more likely abandon the Veritas line.

Yeah, I'll do that. I'm pretty disappointed that Energy is going out of business. I bought the CF30s on a whim for $199 a pop and the CB5s for $99 pair. It was my first system and I was really impressed with the quality. Hopefully the veritas don't become impossible to find.

How close would you say, callas? I've got the Polk cs10 and it seems really muddy compared to the my energy speakers. If the veritas is not a perfect match, I won't mind. I'm really just looking for the best clarity for voices. However, like big Al has recommended, I want the front stage to match.

i would say that you probably wouldnt notice it too much, the center will sound clearer, but I dont think it will sound off like the Polks. I heard them at 2 different stores, and my feelings were they are both good, similar, the veritas better of course.
