It's Star Wars! The price is never going to be reasonable no matter how long you wait.

And come 2020 when Disney get the rights to release Episodes 1235&6 it's still going to be stupidly expensive.

Just put a little asside each month and spread the cost. Better than waiting years for a price thats likely never to happen.

as mavrick said above, it will never come down in price. this is star wars we are talking about.

i ended up buying just the original trilogy as i cant stand the new films for like £25 but it seems the boxset keeps going up in price rather than down. everytime i check its always 1 or £2 more than it was a couple of months ago on amazon

I never expected this release to be cheap. Quite the contrary, I expected to pay more and get [somewhat] more for my money. But I'm satisfied with it.

Its not a question of money really. I just honestly thought we'd see it for about £40 at least by now....I got that wrong!

CDON in Scandinavia had a one-day deal for the 9-disc set mid-December for approximately £38 (converted from Swedish kronor).

I was also lucky here in Finland a few months ago when a local supermarket celebrated its birthday and many bluray boxes were half price, got it for 43 euro or so, so about £35, was a pretty nice deal.

I'm surprised this hasn't dropped in price, it's been out nearly a year. I bought it on the day of release with the film cell and paid £58, which is not a lot compared to how much money I have spent on Star Wars over the past 30 years or so. What with VHS boxsets, DVD boxsets, VCDs, Lasediscs, books and action figures £58 is a drop in the ocean

I was also waiting for a price drop of the Prequel Trilogy set to offer this Christmas, but it's getting hard to find it at a slightly low price.

I got this for £55 on release. Less than a tenner for each film sounds like a great deal to me. This IS Star Wars. They could have charged a heck of a lot more and got away with it.

A lot of people also forget that this is the only way to see these films now. Its no longer available on DVD.

I reckon they think that they can charge whatever they want and people will pay it because its the only way to own these now. It seems to be working too as its sold very well by all accounts.

I also think its interesting that I saw no copies in any shops for about 10 months before the Disney deal

Finally bought this set, as with others I was waiting for a price drop but seeing as it didnt happen I caved and bought it.

Only thing is, the Attack Of The Clones disc has a small crack in it going from the centre to about 4-5cm into the disc. It played fine but I am still wondering whether I should take it back to HMV. Could the crack cause problems in the future? Thats my main worry, all the other discs are fine and dont want to risk getting another set which may have even more problems.

Thanks in advance guys and gals.

Do you mean as in a proper crack? Because, yes, that could cause problems in the future - cracks like that tend to worsen through repeated taking out and putting in the box, and it might get to the point where it stops the film working for periods.

Problem is, I don't know where HMV stand with their return policy at the moment. Whilst it looks like they're in the clear for now, they might have modified their terms and conditions for this financial period. They should, and probably will, honour the refund/replacement, though.

Take it back matey! Eventually, the disc will shatter and be unusable.

Funny enough, I had the same issue with my first set, except it was on The Phantom Menace. I returned mine as I didn't want a dud disc in the future.

Yes its a proper crack, and thats what I thought, its right from the centre were you would pop the disc out so I would see it worsening, just wanted to double check. Will take it back tomorrow or Friday.

I should have learned my lesson with HMV, last few BD's I have bought from there I have had to take back. As for their position, that shouldnt change the fact that I bought damaged goods, so surely their position on that cant change. I didnt buy the set in the sale or anything either, was the normal price.
