I was going to import it, but with the Boxing Day price of $24.99 for the 3D version, it is cheaper to buy both versions (SteelBook + 3D), than import the Asian one.

Yeah, it's the same region as the US so it's going to work. North America, Central America, South America, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia are all Region 1.

Oh, I agree with you 100%, but I thought about it, and since I open my steelbooks. (I know alot of collectors don't, but if I'm spending that kind of money on the steel I figure I'm going to enjoy the movie in it) I figured why waste the space having both the regular plastic case and the steelbook on my shelf.

Yes, I open mine too, but it doesn't change the fact that it's still cheaper to buy it locally than import it.

You can always just throw away the 3D Amaray case and the 2D discs from the SteelBook and pretend you got it from Asia and then use the money you saved to go buy some lunch or something.
