I was wondering if anyone knew if the PS3 has an output of 24 fps? If not, will this be something that they'll update like the 1080p upscaling? The article is below:

At this time it does not do 1080/24, it's rumored that can be fixed in a firmware upgrade.

Do you even have a tv that will support 1080p/24? and do you think you can "honestly" and I stress honestly, notice a difference between 24 and 60?
Its all hype... you have probably had a 60hz tv all your life and now theres a concern? Wish I could make something sound awsome to you so I could just gouge your wallet. |

When you spend $150 bucks on your HDMI Monster Cable alone and an extra G for the 1080p.. these little things matter. ![]() |

LOL yeah you got ripped on the hdmi cable.. but to each his own.
And I have the 56" of that tv, was going to get the 61" but even this 56 is too big for my small apartment. and again without side by side comparison for the minimal difference, your only going to think yo see a difference because what your making your mind believe is what you will see... |

One thing (apart from motion) 24p might help with is grain. Instead of start stop start stop (which makes it more noticeable), boiling in ramdon fashion as a constant 24fps might bring about a perceptual dB or half of improvement. Hey, like having a free DNR that's not damageing.
If you wanna see how much you can perceive 60p judder follow the Yellow Submarine in the Title credits |

Check out Chad's review on Layer Cake:
http://www.hometheaterspot.com/htsth...?sequence=1892 There is a scene that's capable of showing the difference between 24P vs. 60P. |

I can't get that page to work at the moment. Will try again later.
On the subject of Layer Cake, I had this disc demo'ed to me on Saturday by a friend on his Samsung BDP-1000 (UK model). I was rather concerned by the frame rate, which was causing noticeable judder on panning shots, notably the left > right pan near the start with the FCUK bottles on the chemist shelves. Is this a problem with the disc, my friend's player or Blu-ray in general. Viewed on a Pioneer PDP-436-SXE at 1080i. Same effect @ 720p. |
