Alabama-Notre Dame drew a so-so 15.7 TV rating. It's only a 14% increase over last year's LSU-Bama snooze fest and down from the Auburn-Oregon game two years ago. TV rating was a very good 18.2 in the first half, so apparently everyone turned off the game at that point.

He was on thin ice before these decommits started happening. I was just looking at the class rankings, I can't believe how high Vanderbilt is. They are higher than Texas.

I've been suspicious for awhile when it comes to Vandy. That traditional SEC doormat literally went from losing nearly every SEC game to a back to back bowl team with a 9-4 record this season. Maybe Franklin really is just that good of a coach/recruiter, but it's hard to believe.

It could be Texas A&M eating into Texas's recruiting pool. The 2013 recruits know they'll likely get to play on some great Manziel-led teams for 3 more seasons.

Ole Miss has a pretty strong class as well. These young SEC coaches sure can recruit.

And that's why I'll bet Bielema will fail at Arkansas. He's a lifelong Big Ten guy with zero connections to the southeast. A head coach can go from SEC to Big Ten fairly easy, but switching from Big Ten to SEC is going to be tough. Recruiting in the southeast is cutthroat. Jim Rome was saying on the radio recently that Bielema sends him a handwritten thank you card following every interview.

I'd be stunned if he lasted more than three years at Arkansas.

Except for one certain coach who hoisted his fourth crystal football last night. In a way, his off-putting personality helped his current success. When he took the LSU job, none of his Michigan State assistants followed him—some say because he was a horse's patoot. So he hired a staff of coaches with southern ties, like Jimbo Fisher and Will Muschamp, and recruited championship teams.

The Big East was asking for $300M/yr from ESPN for media rights:

Quote:
The Big East initially sought $300 million annually for its combined rights fees from ESPN during an exclusive negotiating period in the fall, CBSSports.com has learned. The figure would have been the largest annual fee ever paid to a conference.
http://www.cbssports.com/collegefoot...ghts-from-espn

Now with all the defections and the loss of the Catholic 7, they are lookinag about about $50M/yr at best, and probably less than that.

This is so stupid. The game stunk so bad they're manufacturing "controversy." Being called an attractive person is a compliment, not an insult. This is the best thing to ever happen to that young lady and she knows it. She wasn't the least bit offended and has been doing nonstop interviews saying as much. She'll make a boatload of cash off this publicity. ESPN has no reason to apologize. They zoomed into her so many times because she was more interesting than the game.

Then that's on the producers/camera people. Musberger doesn't control the cameras.

I feel bad for Musberger. He was just saying what the rest of us were thinking. McCarron is one lucky SOB.
