So, is Man of Steel going to be the snubbed blockbuster that Teh Intarweb will be whining about next year?

I'm sure there will be a few!
Still won't detract from my(probable) liking of the movie and adding it to my collection when it's released!

Not many.

So again, it's not even about the competition. TDKR's biggest rival is TDK. Why would AMPAS recognize a movie in 2012 that is unanimously considered inferior in every way to its predecessor from 2008?
The first thing that pops into my mind is the opening sequence. I'm not a huge fan of TDKR but that scene is amazing from a technical standpoint. And I definitely think Tom Hardy should've been nominated over Christoph Waltz or Robert De Niro.

I don't even see Bane going down in cinematic history as a very notable villian.
Again, like the movie, he was good, not great.
[Show spoiler]To top it all off he was killed by a GIRL!!!!

Bane's voice actually takes me out of the movie when I watch it. No matter how menacing he looks, or how sinister his plans are, I can't really take him all that seriously when he sounds like someone's butler.

To each his own. I love Bane's voice and it made his character more scarier. On the other hand its Batman's voice which I cant stand! Just horrible!

I also don't like Batman's voice throughout the trilogy. They needed to scale that down a few notches. Maybe I'll get used to Bane's voice eventually, but now every time he talks I just think of the parody video

I thought the voice in Begins was good. It had that hoarseness but he didn't seem like he was struggling to talk. TDK really pushed it too far and I felt like they scaled it back a hair for TDKR.

The voice in TDK in the final showdown with both Joker and Dent are just painful to listen to.

Me either. IMO Heath Ledgers potrayal of the Joker was just so wildly original in its execution that it reached an iconic status that will stick around for some time to come. I couldnt help but feel like they were trying REALLY hard to get lighting to strike the same place twice when coming up with ideas for Bane that while it appeared different, it still felt stale...to me anyway.

I love Bane's voice as well. It is both comical and terrifying and that is what makes it so great in my opinion.

As for Batman, I thought his voice in Batman Begins was perfect (if you don't count Conroy), the only over the top scene was "SWEAR TO MEEE!", but that was badass. When I first saw Begins I felt that it was just a more intense version of Keaton's (I also thought it was a prequel to Batman). I do agree that it is too far overdone in TDK and TDKR though.

Bane totally creeps out my wife. I pull pranks on her now by putting my hand over my mouth, whipping out the English accent, and speaking nonsense when she's occupied with makeup or some such thing....

"Dinner's not ready. I am the pasta's reckoning!"
"STOP IT!"
"I give the pasta to you, the people..."
"STOP IT!"

there's that one and when he says in his Batman voice, "I'M NOT WEARING HOCKEY PADS!". That cracks me up every time.

BANE OUTTAKES (Auralnauts extended edition) - YouTube
That clips slays me everytime! I just close my eyes and picture an evil Sean Connery.
