They're also dropping the extras that were on the other side of the disc. So much for that plus.

To me, and maybe this is wishful thinking, this seems like a good sign that maybe Universal is starting the process of ramping down on HD-DVD. If you think something is not going to be around for awhile you start detaching it from something that will be around for awhile. DVD will be around for awhile for all those people who don't have HD TV so now they are going back to seperating the two.

I agree w/ Titan. Also, I think the combo was to boost sales, since they could easily spin a combo sale as an HD-DVD sale. All the combo did, however, was make HD-DVD owners pay $5 more, because I don't think many people w/ just a DVD player want to pay $15 more for a disc they can only use half of, seeing as how spending just $5 more gets them another movie.

The reason for the love of combo was it meant they could give the extras on the DVD side.

So, they aren't moving them over, but making these all basic HD DVD dics?

If Universal was smart they would make a double sided HD-DVD disc and place the extra’s on the other side of the disc. Then if they were super intelligent Universal would release on BLU-RAY and end the format war and at the same time make more money since one format equals several millions of consumers buying one format.

Yep, if the extras aren't on the HD-DVD side the new non-combo ones aren't getting any.

Both discs will feature the exact same content as the HD DVD sides on their Combo editions, which sadly means Unleashed is devoid of any extras as those were included on the DVD side of the Combo release. Specs follow…
