Doing a little bit of digging, it looks like the conversion thus far is a success:

Columbia Pictures is a subsidiary of Sony Pictures. I was thinking about sending an email, which do you think would be best?

Good to hear. I hope the 3D is much better than I Robots, and hopefully near the level of Titanic 3D. Same goes for Top Gun 3D I hope.

My friend in China saw it and said is wasn't done that well. Very shallow and flat layers with a lot of conversion errors.

what a letdown. I guess you need the US experts for really good conversions.

Read today in wiki:

A limited 3D version was re-released exclusively in select Cinemex theaters in Mexico in February 2013.
Looks like the version that played in China in November of 2012 snuck its way into Mexico in February of 2013. I confirmed the release through Cinemex's website.

Getting closer to the states...............

For the life of me I don't understand why they haven't released this to BR3d yet, especially when Fox and Lionsgate are converting and rereleasing catalog titles.. you're sitting on a conversion of 2012, SONY! Package it, slap a bow and it, and get it out there!!

Could be that china owns the conversion since they paid for it but hey, a HK blu-ray is fine also. Heard alarming reports about the bad 3D though

Apparently a digital 3D release of this exists, and an upscaled/enhanced version of that will be making its way onto a certain website soon. I'll be very curious to see the quality of something like this, as such an early conversion.
