If they are waiting for the hardware mandate, then they could release titles now and people who get the new players would be ready for those features. And if they wait until Nov. 1st, there are still older players out there that can't use it. People keep talking of the Oct. 31st mandate, but I think they're confusing that w/ the fact that the software itself isn't ready. The deadline's just to make sure people can utilize the features.

If the software is the problem right now, then they're just waiting to do simultaneous releases when they can put those features on the BD disc. I'll reititerate, I thought the problem was that the software just isn't available yet, and when it will be, they'll have no issues w/ BD (in the sense of features). If I'm wrong, please correct me.
