Sadly it doesn't seem that you will - it looks like the 2D disc will be the exact same disc as is currently available, judging by the fact that the extras are all identical and limited to what was already on the previous release.

It wasn't supposed to be limited but I think that, with the downturn in 3D re-releases (and also a much shorter IMAX run than they hoped for being as A Good Day to Die Hard takes screens away from them a week later, hence it being announced a couple of weeks ago that it was now a special one-week limited IMAX engagement) I think this is a case of striking while the iron's hot. Get the 3D release in cinemas, make a bit of money off that, get the blu-ray out while everyone is still in the mood for it.

He didn't say it was a better transfer, just that it looked it. And, having seen the downladed HD trailer and having watched it on a cinema screen four times, I agree with him - it does look like a better remaster. There's a difference in colour and detail. How the blu-ray will look no-one can say but it seems an improvement.

From what I hear, the 2D disc is the same as its original counterpart. I do have a 3D setup, but it's only a small one for my bedroom. I'll probably never watch JP in 3D and my TV doesn't have the 2D-3D conversion, so it's pointless for me.

Is it confirmed the included 2D copy will be the already available disc or are people guessing due to it including the same features as the original release? because the same can be said of the Top Gun 3D release, it will have the same audio tracks and extras as the original release but the 2D disc will be taken from the new transfer.

I'm guessing but, as I said the US thread, I honestly think Universal will be cheap with this one and throw the old disc in. But we'll see.
