Insiders have commented that, depending on the level of re-mastering (if any) that needs to be done, it can take a few weeks for the mastering/encoding process (turning the master print into a Blu-ray-worthy encode) and then a few months lead-time on the order to have the discs pressed and the cover art printed.

The process is longer if the master print needs extensive retouching (Armageddon's was damaged in a fire, for example), or if the director is highly involved (Michael Bay, ahem), and how many extra/bonus features are included.

Last I heard, it's taking studios anywhere from 1-2 months from the time they place the order for duplication until the title is available for retail.

Actually, it is good if they can get BD out in 1 to 2 months.

Authoring involves many steps that take time which include graphics design for menus, motion menus if any, transfer, down conversion (from DI), chapter points selection and creation, disk printing, cover printing. These are in addition to retouching, extra editing and development of special features. This is not a small job.

Hello? Is anybody home? (echo: home?...home?...home?...)

I guess this thread has turned into a crypt.

No Paramount or Universal BD release announcements yet.
Not even a peep.

Easter is coming this Sunday.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a big, fat, juicy Paramount or Universal Easter egg (press release) next to the chocolate bunny? There is still room in my Easter basket.

I'll even take a few jellybeans (shaped like Transformers).

Oh well. I guess I will have to watch the oldray DVD version of The Ten Commandments on Sunday.
