George Lucas Files for Permission to Sell His $2 Billion in Disney Shares.

A regulatory filing reveals the "Star Wars" creator may cash out the stock he received when selling LucasFilm to Disney.

Quote:
George Lucas might not intend to be a large Disney shareholder very long, judging from a regulatory filing Wednesday signaling his right to sell more than 37 million shares -- amounting to all the stock he received for when he sold LucasFilm to Disney for $4 billion last year.

According to the filing, The George W. Lucas, Jr. Fourth Amended and Restated Living Trust could sell 37,076,679 million shares of Disney -- amounting to about 2.1 percent of the company -- "from time to time" until the trust no longer holds any of the stock.

The sale of stock could occur via "ordinary brokerage transactions or through any other means described in this prospectus," the filing says.

At Disney's closing price of $54.52 on Wednesday, the shares held by Lucas are worth $2.02 billion.

That I would be ok with, but I don't think I could take 1 1/2-3 hours(Chances are it wouldn't be 3, but you get what I'm saying.) of Jabba, I would probably want to bash my head against the wall, I mean his parts in IV and I were some of the worst stuff in the Star Wars movies IMO.

That's what I'm saying, if done right I'd be ok with it, but personally overall, I'd really rather not.

More on the topic of the core movies. I am 18 and am just watching the movies(any of them) for the first time all the way through(I know, I know). I've so far seen IV, V, VI, and am in the middle of I, I personally don't hate Phantom Menace quite as much as most, but it isn't a good movie. I used to think that the hate for Jar Jar was going to end up being unnecessary and nothing more than bandwagoning hate used to have someone to blame for the poor quality of PM, however I couldn't stand the guy(thing?)

I really hope that the new trilogies are great movies again so we can have a modernly good looking and great quality movie.

I may have been really late to the party, but I'm finally there, and have become a HUGE fan of Star Wars, the possibilites that are opened by this sale are really interesting to me and make me look forward to the future.
22 and recently watched Episodes V and VI for the first time. I only watched IV on account of a friend showing it to me. Thing is, I wasn't ready to appreciate it back then. This time I was captivated with the original trilogy. From the time Obi-Wan tells Luke of the Force finishing with, "The Force will be with you. Always". Then I fall in deeper during The Empire Strikes Back when Yoda says, "Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter." Luke is so cool in Return Of The Jedi. He defines the Jedi ideal perfectly. Pure unfaltering faith, not because he's all powerful, but because he trusts the Force completely.

Also very happy with the prequel trilogy. Can't wait for more. I'd like it if they went with a female Jedi as the main character for the next one, who may or may not start out as a Padawan in Episode 7. One reason is Episode 6 hints that Leia could be a formidable Jedi. She ends up not needing to be. It'd be a cool segue way with Episode 6 hinting at the potential of a female Jedi then Episode 7 showing it.

Plus, this way we can have a girl telling some guy he's beautiful (like Anakin called Padme in Episode 1 and Luke described Leia in Episode 4).

I'm still on Season 3.

Looks like J.J. Abrams also attached to Half Life and Portal.

If it turns out to be true, then I believe it's great news and a good fit. J.J. and Disney are showing their best intentions so far. He would be a worthy successor to Ian McDiarmid.

Noble is a fantastic actor. I hope this happens. They definitely need to focus on getting some great actors.

That being said, I really disliked Portman's - "...but you are breaking my heart"... and she won an Oscar. LOL

It sucks that Hamill, Fisher, and Ford are so old now because he would be perfect as the Clone Emperor in the Dark Empire series. Granted he's a little bit to old himself.

John Noble is amazing. He didn't get enough recognition as Walter on Fringe.

Rumor. End of story, you can tell me that Clive Owen was going to be the villain. Until I see facts I'll make up my own cast.

I'm pretty sure that's what everyone else is doing, as no cast has been "officially" announced.

Of course it's a rumor but it's still fun to speculate.

anyone think Disney has someone just making up these rumors to get hype for the movie and that when it actually does come out, we will be disappointed as not one of the reumors will be true?
