It appears that THE GREAT SILENCE (which was scheduled to be released in Germany earlier this year but was cancelled) is going to be released in Japan on December 5th, 2012. Here are the stats:

I looked into my copy today and what I can sy so far is that a) it looks much better than on the screen shots and b) that it's closer to a DVD than what one would expect from any Blu-Ray.

I will compare the BD to the German DVD (which is none-anamorphic) when I have the time.

That's how the blu-ray looks? Jesus Christ, the Studio Canal dvd released in France looks much better than that.

My favorite spaghetti western outside of the Leone movies so when I saw this thread I was thinking of throwing it in with my next Ghibli order, but what a disappointment. Obvious upscale from an SD source, and a pretty terrible one at that.
