and as a previous guy said. there's over 90 million gamers on the psn network and a GOOD chunk more on xbox live.... somehow 50 million pc gamers down from HUNDREDS of millions 10 years ago doesn't seem that big. as Stallon said recently "owned, down, dead"

on a side note. I feel like I'm in the freeforall section of Highdefdigest where 5 people would constantly post doom and gloom on blu-ray and everyone else would sit there and be like "wtf???". same here. 5 or so people constantly posting on the doom and gloom of physical media.

I don't know about anyone else but i moved to the console from pc games based on my disposable income. It became to expensive constantly upgrading the rig when console games were "good enough"

You want to know how my music collection is going? 200 vinyl, 400 cd and roughly 200 mp3. Music doesn't mean quite as much as film to me if that is what you mean. I love music but my passion is movies.

Funny, because I keep seeing the same people return to say "blu-ray will never die! it'll be here forever just like dvd and vhs, and I refuse to ever upgrade with the future!"

Have fun in your circle jerk, this thread is not a healthy debate, it's a one sided argument with delusional beliefs. I'm out.

lol, it's more like the same 5 people coming around and giving nonsensical arguments on how streaming is gonna take over the world

I don't see people saying that the future will not having something new. it always does, the same way blu-ray supplanted dvd. we just have a small group of people here that have spouted the decades old mantra that physical entertainment is going by by. the same crap was spouted ever since the laserdisc era.

Pretty dandy actually, I've only bought a total of five albums this year (come on, it's only Feb), but each one was a new release and on vinyl. I've pre-ordered the My Bloody Valentine and Bowie so that's seven really. Secondhand, a lot more, but this is new stuff from the shops and amazon we're talking about I presume you meant.

Most vinyl nowadays comes with a download code which is the perfect example of the actual future - physical and non-physical happily co-existing. I'm listening to the new MBV on mp3 and waiting for the vinyl to arrive.

Happy camper here.

Oh come on, don't flounce off like that, leaving behind just a poorly constructed straw man. No-one has said they won't upgrade, it's that we don't see downloading as an upgrade, more of a sidestep at best and, at the moment and for the distant forseeable future, a downgrade. A shiny disc is still the cheapest, easiest, most enjoyable, safest, reliable and most profitable way to sell and store data.

I kind of want that mbv vinyl as well, but couldn't pull the trigger at $30. I did enjoy the digital 24/96 download (obtained by pirating) and want to contribute for such a monumental release...22 years!

It's been a long wait but it doesnt sound like they've lost anything. Great album. For the money, you get the CD and a download; I'll probably sell the CD unless it sounds great and the vinyl is a good investment. They won't be making any more first pressings and it won't be at $30 in a few years.

Yes, streaming/downloading is an excellent option for renting movies. For owning or collecting, forget about it.

No, of course not. But that was not the comment. The comment was regarding how expensive it is to stream.

One reason why I choose to buy so many movies is because it can not stream in 1080p and have lossless audio.

This is an international forum.

I'm pretty sure Steedeel isn't from the U.S.

Here in Australia there are very few companies who offer such services and they are very small with much less content compared with Netflix and other U.S providers. It costs about $6-$8 per film you stream here. This is why these topics are stupid, because the majority of members who think streaming is going to take over don't look at the big picture, they base everything they say on the U.S market, like it's the same worldwide.

I am aware that this is an International forum. Do you guys have amazon prime there? Does it function differently the the way is it done in the US?

I do agree that many people get caught up on the US market as base for everything. Streaming has a long way to go when it comes to taking over physical ownership of the movie.

People mention music as an example of how streaming and digital only works. In Itunes, you do not own your music and when you die, it legally can not be passed on to your kids or family etc. The same time of thing would happen in the US.
