have to say that would be a recommended buy and one of the easier criterions to get though also the audio of the songs is amazing
Soooo good. I had chills the whole way through. A detailed and harsh look at adolescence with a killer soundtrack. The "bike riding" at the end was one of the most cathartic movie experiences of last year for me.

Where did you find someone selling a 4 channel audio system? Sorry...couldn't resist.

It's been at the top of my 'need-to-buy-as-soon-as-I-can' list since it was released...I keep passing on it every time it reaches $18-$20, and I keep regretting it.

Going back to the discussion about whether there are 'bad' choices for us when it comes to Criterion, that was actually one of the releases/films I was most disappointed with. I've found I'm just not a big fan of the type of film, the culture it depicts, if that makes sense.

i so understand, like i have gotten certain films that I though would be good from criterion and since i wasn't into them had no replay value

You guys know it's not about vampires, right? I learned that the hard way.

It's still pretty good. Just no vampires.

I've been toying with the idea of watching Purple Noon. (Granted, I'd have to rent it on DVD since Netflix evidently doesn't carry it on Blu-ray.) I've never read the Ripley book but from what I gather, this is based on it. tbh, the only reason it caught my eye is because Alain Delon is incredibly handsome and attractive circa 1960. Yes, I too can be tempted by eye candy.

Hey everyone, I just bought The Seventh Seal and Days of Heaven on Blu Ray!!

I can't wait to watch one of these tonight so which should it be? I've heard they are both outstanding. Decisions, decisions.

Based on Criterion's description of the film, they completely agree with you.

Thanks, still deciding; but if I do watch The Seventh Seal, I will watch that. I love parodies.

Warm, gentle mood: Days of Heaven

Cold, pensive mood: Seventh Seal

Ooo, that was a great blind buy. Punch me in the face if you don't like it. Although I wonder if reading the novel first dulls it's power

After I finish Winter's Bone, what movie do you guys recommend I watch first?

12 Angry Men
Dazed And Confused
Diabolique
Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas
Last Year At Marienbad
Paris, Texas
Paths Of Glory
Shallow Grave
Sweet Smell Of Success
Third Man
Three Colors Trilogy
Videodrome

I didn't buy it but I'm going to rent it. And I've never read the novel.

I'd take him over goofy-faced Matt Damon any day.

To make the best double feature (even though I recommend just breathing afterwards because that was one of my favorite films of '10) I would say either Paris, Texas (similarly paced and shares the Americana) or Diabolique as it's one of the best oh-no-that's-so-freaking-twisted thrillers around.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was leaning toward Paris, Texas anyway.
