I don't know what it does but I know for sure that it doesn't decode DTS-HD MA.
Just tested some DTS-HD MA discs and nada. |

Even if it's a glitch fix or security update of some sort, they should let us know what they are doing to our high end equipment!
I was hoping for DTS-HD or in-game XMB. Either one would have made me content. But, not knowing is a piss off. |

Why there is a delay for the new version to appear in the official site. Is this normal. Could it still be in the testing phase.

I dl it long ago. Might as well get it then ending up with a brick or other issue. Well if others are having problems then Sony will just put out another update in a few days. Its happend once before. I've never had issues right after updates. Besides updates will probably be more often. It's all good.

I have seen in another thread an indication of console lock-ups after the 2.17 upgrade. Be careful please.

I updated this on the day it was released and have started experiencing audio drop outs since. I had one on No Country For Old Men (PCM) and one on ID4 (DTS core). Anyone else have these problems yet? It does it randomly for me...

Well, if nothing happens soon, I think I am going to get a stand-alone player for the blu-rays and use the PS3 for games. I give them until the new Panasonic 2.0 player comes out (bd-50).....I have over 20 Fox discs, and a player that can't decode the lossless track on them. Granted the core DTS track is darn good, but my patience is thinning. The least Sony could do is tell PS3 owners they are working with DTS on it, or that they just can't do it. Instead they have yet to make any type of comment. If you look around the forums on the official PS3 site, there are literally thousands of posts about DTS HD/MA...Sony knows how much people want it, I think it is poor relations just to remain mum on the subject.
You would think Fox would be unhappy about this.....I also blame Fox because they know a good portion of blu-ray owners right now have PS3's. In addition to the DTS MA track, they could add a PCM track or Dolby True, which the PS3 can decode. Heck, even one of Sony's discs, Close Encounters has DTS MA...and not a single Sony player can play it that I know of. |

I am right there with you. Having a player with all codecs decoded internally makes upgrading my reciever much easier. Since I would only have to deal with the LFE bug with my current reciever it would be less critical an upgrade to boot. I am pretty patient, but what is grating on me is not just that the update is taking so long, but that Sony won't even throw us a bone of "we're working on it", "it is at X point on our priority list", "it is taking us longer to implement than we had planned", or "we're just waiting for standalones to be released supporting it as per our policy on other major functionality updates." Any of the above, any type of real nod or wave in our direction to let us PS3 owners know that Sony is aware of how much we want this and how important it is to us would work for me.
