Hopefully any day now for the first wave. There should be some due in May, so I expect we'll get an announcement soon.

I'm sure Warners UK won't care that films like Goodfellas have come out on SB in other countries, it's probably less effort to reuse an existing design, but from a personal level I'd obviously rather they didn't and we get something new
I wouldnt doubt that unfortunately

Also want Empire of the Sun and The Color Purple with Original Poster Art. Would also love a white steel for A.I, maybe the only white steel I'll buy.

I would love A.I., absolutely love it. But Empire of the Sun and Color Purple? My Spielberg-collecting side would demand I get them and they're not films I want to double-dip on - so I hope Warners don't tempt me into it.

With regards to producing something new versus 're'producing something that is available in other countires - it's an old discussion for these boards but I firmly believe that a UK company shouldn't care what has been produced elsewhere. Warner Brothers UK cater for the UK crowd - if they want to put out a GoodFellas steelbook it shouldn't matter at all that their Canadian counterparts had the same idea. They're not aiming for the Canadian market, nor were the Canadians aiming for the UK, even in this marketplace where they are aware that some may import.

I realise why people want something new - because they import and they want more choice. But not everyone imports, especially steels where exclusivity and limited availability can push prices up past what people would pay. For example, the Canadian Goodfellas steelbook would currently cost £17.78 to import. The WB UK would likely be around £10. Plus there's the added worry of it getting across in mint condition and the difficulty of returning it if something was wrong.

Put it this way - if Warners released the Japanese versions of the Batman Begins and The Dark Knight steelbooks over here you wouldn't here much complaining from most as they are extremely desireable but priced out of what most are comfortable to spend (though, of course, those who have bought them might not be happy). Same with these cheaper versions. At the end of the day, if WB UK want to release a steelbook not yet available in the UK, that's fair enough.

+1. The main reason I didnt import the Goodfellas Canadian one was because of damage. Amazon Canada arent too great on packaging (or they werent in any case) - Ive read loads of people complaining about this in the past. I know Amazon are great about refunds/returns but I thought Id wait this one out. Glad I did. It really needs a new transfer and lossless audio track of course though.

Same with Superman.
And I'm the opposite, I'd love the anthology set in a steelbook like the godfather set need more space

Batman & Robin and Batman Forever don't belong in the same case as Batman and Batman Returns

I'd rather they don't release titles which seem to have been released more than once, I'd rather they go for more classic films that have not been released already, otherwise it's going to cost me a lot to double dip. Saying that, if they want to release Dial M For Murder or Strangers On A Train on steelbook then I wouldn't complain as it's Hitchcock

If they want to release more modern titles in steelbooks then they can use the white design steelbooks

Space Cowboys, another Clint Eastwood favourite - Warner Bros would be lucky to be able to sell any more at $5. If they release a steelbook for Space Cowboys, they might be able to sell some more.

Love me some steelbooks. But I'd rather get the often rumored extended director's cut of 'POSEIDON'. Whatever happened to that?

I can say yes to about three of those. Could be more, still in early stages for Q4 planning.

Any chance you can convince someone at WB to release those gorgeous Premium Collection digibooks from France/Germany/Spain to get released in the US? I'd buy them all if they had English text in the book!

Dude, if I had any say, I would. As it is I only speak to marketing reps, so anything else before that isn't really up to me or the guys I talk to.

Exactly! Assuming you mean WB marketing reps...put it in their ear, these digibooks need to arrive in either the US or the UK!!!
