The Fury has a French release later in the year so that might make a difference.

I understand the frustration of not being able to get one. I'm hardly ever online for a length of time and just tend to frit about from one site to another - rarely spending more than a few minutes on each one. If I knew this release was coming out, and managed to post the info in at least two other sites, I think anyone could.

Can't wait for The Blob! My most wanted blu-ray ever!
I'm going to destroy my house if that one sells out before my order is placed!

This thread up until yesterday has literally been a repeat of "When does this preorder go up?"/"Feb 15th and 4pm".
I agree that if anyone really wanted Christine and are even an infrequent reader here you knew when it was going up for preorder and the buzz meant that it would be advisable to order the day it went on sale.

I got back from work at 11pm UK time (6pm EST) so 2 hours after it went on sale, went to SAE and preordered. then came here to see the discussion and was shocked to see reports here that there were only 1,000 copies left.

Leaving until the next morning UK time was a massive risk.

What I really think is indefensible is SAE / TT allowing people to buy 10 copies. But then they don't care as they have got their cash and it is easier and quicker for them to package 10 unit orders than singles like mine. I can see why people bought multiple copies as all the hype here and elsewhere before it went on sale clearly indicated a rapid sellout and then premium prices on resale.
Luckily I have a well paid job so got my copy to watch and don't need to worry about profits on trading. I buy BD I enjoy and keep them. However I can see why others who have the time to sell on ebay etc would be happy to trade this and make good profits.

And here begins the countless posts of people complaining they didn't get a copy, and TT's business model is awful...

everyone said it was stupid for Sony to give Steel Magnolias to Twilight Time because it'd be a quick sell-out.

Especially when 90% of the posts within any topic are mindless, endless noise of the "I ordered this" or "my copy should arrive tomorrow" type that the vast majority of posters here (or rather, the small number generating a LOT of update posts) seem perfectly happy with. If as a noob you're dumb enough to ask "why do people think anybody else in the world cares that they've just ordered a title, or hope it arrives on a certain day of the week?" you get a shitstorm of "Who are you to criticise members of our 'community', Mr rude and annoying noob?" responses.

As a result I spend far too much time in "Collectibles" and "UK" desperately trying to find real release/status information that is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Until now just trawling through those two forums every morning and evening has taken up far more time than I'd like, but seemingly the site is all about traffic and advertising so nothing's likely to change with regard to the very poor signal vs noise ratio, and anybody who wanders naively in (that'll be me then!) and comments on this poor moderation/usefulness of the forums gets a quick slapdown. Or if you try and post genuine information of use to people via an external link a "That is a site competing with ours for hard-won eyeballs. Desist immediately" slapdown.

But I digress. The point I wanted to make is we don't all have time to trawl the numerous forums on here - that would be a full time job and friends already have me in the "sad Blu-ray anorak" category for the amount of time I spend on here and elsewhere trying to find out about new releases I'm interested in.

As a customer who has until now pre-ordered every title Twilight/Screen Archives Entertainment (why don't they just call themselves Twilight since they're the ony company you can order the titles from I assume they're one and the same thing?!) have released, I rely on Screen that company emailing me pre-order details of their Twilight titles. Even when I haven't been THAT interested in the title I've ended up on the "They're doing limited edition runs of films that would otherwise never see the light of day so I should support them" and end up ordering them. I don't think there's a title I've missed. Until this morning!

I got the first pre-order notification I've seen about "Christine" this morning - a title I really wanted - at 4:30am this morning UK time. This is the first time I've been told about this title (I wish the same could be said for "The Egyptian" which SEA seem determined to mail-bomb me about on a weekly basis, along with CD soundtracks I have zero interest in!). I was lucky enough to be up at 6:00am (I was up early as I couldn't sleep) and as soon as I read the email about "Christine" being available for pre-order - 90 minutes after it was sent - I find it's sold out. WTF?!?!

As a regular customer I expect a better service from a supplier than an email at 4:30 in the morning on an item that is gone by 6am that same morning. Or are we saying that SEA sold out solely based on that 4:30am email within 90 minutes?!

For me, this is the last straw on top of all the other problems with Twilight titles. Their prices are high to start with. They don''t offer me a cheap shipping option because they say they get too many "lost" claims" so I pay the high shipping charges. They insist on posting the high cost of the contents of each package on the outside so that I ALWAYS get hit with a VAT 20% charge, an import tax charge (8%) and then Royal Mail charge me another £8 on top for "the pleasure" of paying them! This is NOT true of packages I order from every other USA supplier and just makes expensive titles even more expensive, bordering on the ludicrous. But I've put up with it... until now.

To add insult to injury you can't even simply check their "New releases" section under "Blu Rays" the way you used to as they've decided to become a reseller for Criterion and other "art house" companies which now swamp the Twilight titles in the "New Release" section and aren't titles anybody would be interested in given the high cost of ordering from the company vs ordering from anyone else (especially Amazon or Barnes and Noble)

If Screen Archives Entertainment who seem to be the sole supplier of Twilight can't treat their regular customers better then why would I want to do business with them again?

I'm done. Thanks to their shoddy handling of this "Christine" release. They clearly have no respect for their regular customers so why should I give them any more business. Maybe I'll miss one or two "rare" titles, but when a company seems to care so little about its regular customers it seems a small price to pay (and a huge cost saving that will enable me to buy a lot MORE titles from elsewhere)
So you are telling me you know about Twilight Time? You know they are limited? But you don't keep track of there pre-order dates? You rely on someone else to send you a email?

But for some reason don't understand the history of Fright Night or Night Of the Living Dead like how they sold out. But you are big on collectibles.

Now you come on and complain because they didn't directly contact you to order one in time. Oh my.

I know some people are upset about missing this, but it is kind of funny that they were relying on emails to alert them, rather than take, say 5 seconds to actually look at the SAE site at any point in the day before release - on which it clearly stated when the orders would be live.

I may be a special case as I buy CDs from SAE all the time, so check the page for rare stock updates every day, but seriously the day that orders would start has been known well in advance, and simply going to SAE for a few moments would have told you when to be ready (9pm here in the UK, though the server didn't let me order until 20 minutes later)

Still, got one Christine and one Fury (no speculation buying for me) so the delay wasn't an issue.

THE SONG OF BERNADETTE (1943) BLU-RAY - March 26th
MAJOR DUNDEE (1965) BLU-RAY (2-disc set) - April 9th
AT LONG LAST LOVE (1975) BLU-RAY - April 9th (NOTE: Not on the TT label, but exclusively handled by TT for Twentieth Century Fox)
PHILADELPHIA (1993) BLU-RAY - May 14th
LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN (1945) BLU-RAY - May 14th
HARD TIMES (1975) BLU-RAY - June 11th
THE DRIVER (1978) BLU-RAY - June 11th
THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN (1970) BLU-RAY - June 11th

The only ones I see selling well is Leave Her To Heaven and The Driver. Other than that it's gonna be a slow and steady half a year for TT. I will be picking up most of these besides Phildelphia.
