I certainly hope that this is still coming out. The existing transfer on Mad Max 2 is fabulous, but a new version with the alternate/deleted scenes would be nice.

A documentary about the disastrous shoot of Beyond Thunderdome would also be appreciated.

Since there were deaths around the filming I would doubt anyone especially Miller will talk about it, he barely was willing to work on it at all.

I was thinking about selling my Region A copy of Mad Max and Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, because I was certain this day would come... but it probably won't be much of an improvement over what we have now ; Mad Max 2 was one of the first Blu-rays I ever watched and I was mesmerized by the picture quality! It makes the DVD look like a VHS!

I would like to pick up "Beyond Thunderdome". I watched it again about a week ago on Lovefilm Instant (in their half-hearted attempt at HD) and while I can see why people dislike it, it has a unique atmosphere from the rest of the series that I can't dismiss...

I'm very concerned about "Fury Road", though ; I love Tom Hardy, but none of the other cast members are really selling me and you know it just won't have the same visceral impact the original films had (I predict way too many C.G.I enhancements). Also, not setting it in The Land of Oz just seems wrong!

Compared to the other 2 films, it is pretty stupid (I know what you meant though ). MAD MAX 1 and 2 dealt with the depletion of raw materials and the world just running into the ground. MAD MAX 3 rips off the Italian rip offs of MAD MAX and just goes with the nuclear obliteration routine. It's neither adult nor kiddie enough to decide what it wants to be: a ROAD WARRIOR sequel or a Steven Spielberg movie. With the other 2 movies, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

The thing is, once you get over the fact that it's not THE ROAD WARRIOR: PART 2, it's a pretty damn entertaining movie. I guess it's a lot like the first 3 HALLOWEEN movies (once you get over the fact that Mikey is not in H3 and just watch it for what it is, it's a pretty damn good spooky movie) or even the EVIL DEAD movies (the first one is pretty serious, morose and in MAD MAX's case, one could argue a bit boring. The second is pitch perfect, while the 3rd is bit too corny/comedic but still a whole lot of fun).

Even so, like the rest of those who have written, if MAD MAX gets a better transfer than what MGM put out here, ROAD WARRIOR gets a new transfer (even though 90% is reference material, there are a few scenes during the night that need some major work) and THUNDERDOME at least looks as good as the HD recording I have, then I'll bite.

I love Mad Max and Road Warrior but Thunderdome just seemed very out of place to me. It does however seem to be a favorite out of the 3 to some. Your comparisons though bring in a new light, especially the Evil Dead trilogy with how Army of Darkness takes a completely different direction of the first two installments. I just hope this trilogy happens, even if it is put off to better advertise Fury Road. I just hope in the end it happens

I'm hoping they find some extras for 1 and 2 beyond the existing US editions and some background material on 3 would be very interesting. Its always felt like two stories cut and shut together and bogs down with exposition when the kids show up, but Tina Turner is excellent and the ending is quite moving

My wife is on the warpath about my recent purchase levels ... it was much easier when I could send them to my work and she never knew , so maybe a delay so I can get the 4-film box would be a good idea

Thunderdome is very good - to a point about halfway in. Then its ruined by lots of kids and Tina Turner!

Really? I feel the complete opposite. I mean for starters you have two great leads (Tom Hardy & Charlize Theron) in it! Not to mention Miller is directing it, so it's not like you have somebody who is unfamiliar with the property. Fury Road is one of my most anticipated sequels, can't wait to see what Miller will do with a larger budget & modern special effects.

P.S. Thunderdome is also my favorite of the 3.

As Tina Turner once said "We Don't Need Another Mad Max Film"
And Hardy is overrated to the point of ridiculousness now
