I can't believe this isn't getting treated to the same digibook that Universal gave Mockingbird, Jaws and ET.....something doesn't seem right about it

What's the difference? It's not like the extras are in HD. There's no point putting them on an additional Blu-ray, and there's even less sense splitting the movie in two just to justify adding SD features to a 2nd BD disc. Just pretend the DVD with special features is your 2nd BD disc if it makes you feel better.

Just my preference. I would rather get to the end of a movie and click straight into the extras than get up and change the disk. I prefer the book over a DVD copy (which I already have)

Again, just my preference. I'm going to hold out for a digibook, hopefully later in the summer. All I would get here is better pic and audio quality....if I was sure a book was never in the offing, I'd buy now. Gut tells me since the rest of the world got a book, we will get a book.

"All I would get here is better pic and audio quality."

Why do you think we've been waiting for this for five years? Stick with DVD if you don't think audio and video quality impact the experience of film.

Yet you'd rather get up in the middle of the film to change the disc? That makes much more sense.

I'd rather the film play as it was intended...unbroken. There was no intermission in Schindler's List, and I'm glad that -- finally -- it will play on home video as it did in theaters.

I'm a little disappointed they added nothing new to this. I think a commentary, more than anything, would be nice. I understand that Spielberg doesn't want to take away from the film's experience, but it IS a movie that won 7 Oscars, and its been 20 years. I know he says he does it out of respect for the survivors, but it does seem a little pretentious to me. People were making movies about the holocaust long before this came along and there have been plenty of them since. It just comes across like he thinks his is the definitive story, the go to account of this tragedy. Too "holy" to break the fourth wall or something. I'd just be interested in hearing him talk about the making. Nevertheless it's a great movie. Just irks me a little.

For real!

Just bumming that we can't get a version of this that we want....the DVD is worthless to me. I digibook would be better, for me anyway.

Cancelling pre order until its a version that I want......that's all from me in this thread today

Lawrence of Arabia is 227 mins on one Blu and Schindler's List will be 196 mins. I think S.S. and his team probabaly made sure the transfer and release would be HQ. I don't think we have to worry that the flm is on one BLu and standard DEF extras won't take up much space.

I agree also something new could have been added, possibly S.S. doing a small interview looking back on macking the film impact etc over the years.

But schools do, and really, that's who this is for -- it's the new restoration on both formats to make sure as many people as possible can see it and learn from it.

I'd rather the movie be on 10 different discs, so when I'm watching the movie when I'm very sick, I may have a chance to vomit every 20 minutes or so.

They invented the pause feature just a while ago, maybe you've heard of it.

That would be nice, but I just think we would've heard something by now. That's why I preordered the UK digibook, IF the US gets a digibook I can easily cancel.

I have never seen so many complaints over a great Spielberg finally being released on Blu ray. I'm looking forward to this movie.
