Luke and Leia better lose some damn weight if they are getting chances to return.

Lando has become Lardo in recent years. Hope the guy gets in shape if they have him back.

I picture the original cast killing off their character for the next generation. Carrie Fisher and Hamil just look terrible these days (No offense). Harrison Ford still looks decent though and he could temporarily resume his role as Han Solo. I expect a lot from the sequels and it better not disappoint. To be honest, if I had the skills to create a film, I would make the following Star Wars films epic; better than George Lucas himself.

Of all of the actors from the original films, I hope Mark Hamill is the one that gets brought back the most. I've met the dude & he is total class.

Would be awesome to see him don the black cloak again. He doesn't need to be doing any flips or anything like that, but to see him fire up that green saber again.....man that would be something.

I agree...there's something depressing about seeing an old Han and Leah return (characters that I like more than Luke), yet I would rather see an old Luke with Mark Hamill return. He doesn't have any baggage really - no children, just a bad-ass respectable jedi like Liam Neeson's Qui Quon Jin. I'm assuming that Hamill will pop up in some scene where he has to train the new jedi sort of like an opening scene how Obi-Wan showed up scaring away the Tusken Raiders. Only this time, we would assume that Luke would show up to scare Tusken Raiders away, yet in fact, he's either disguised as one or just chilling with them. Luke is the one who brings balance and peace. So I like the idea of him befriending the Tusken Raiders, especially since his grandma was killed by them and because he had a bad experience with them in Episode 4.

Basically, I would love to see a Tusken Raider get some more screentime, maybe Hoar will show up. I always thought they were more bad-ass than Boba Fett.

I would love to see something along the lines of Luke doing a last stand kind of deal...

Luke Skywalker going down fighting, then becoming ethereal and guiding the future Jedi.

Those three have no business whatsoever in the new films. What are you going to make it like Star Trek with Spock? I can see these two franchises becoming so much alike. It's just plain silly to have the same director work on both franchises!

I have no interest in seeing Carie Fisher back...not even for a hot second. I think that Luke and Han should return briefly (very briefly!) to bridge the gap between episodes 6 and 7, and give the new trilogy some good momentum. Maybe something in the first 30 minutes and then move out of the way and let the new characters and new story line take it away.

I hope never to hear "rhyme" in SW context. Every time I'd hear GL say that (whether it was in regards to "theme" or the portent of "I have a bad feeling about this) I cringed.

I am sure that we will feel the Abrams style into them but I am not too worried.

Instead of live action however I wish the franchise went into animation movies, animation like the cinematics they have for the game The Old Republic. That would be really crazy.

I think Abrams will do fine. With Trek he was tasked with reinventing the wheel. Much as I thing the PT largely fails to fit stylistically and tonally with the OT, I doubt reinvention is what Disney is seeking.

As to live action, I'm cautiously optimistic that Abrams, Kennedy, Arndt and Kasdan (to whatever degree he's involved) will be using the OT as their creative guidepost and that VII-IX might be the best of both worlds (Lucas's love for envelope-pushing production toys... I mean tools), more fluid pacing and more energized performances (with less corridor walking).

Hopefully Abrams' "mystery box" stays on the shelf for these three just as I'm sure that Paramount will sue him for infringement if he uses lens flares.

Where I see animation being the best route is the one-off side movies. I've been impressed by what I've seen of the Clone Wars and think that that team, with oversight from folks who can guide them from a TV model to a theatrical one, would make for an excellent project. Not only is it suitable, I think, but that show is the current "starter drug" for kids entering the SW fold, so having the Clone Wars folks expand on Yoda and introduce Boba Fett & Han Solo may help lead them to the OT and VII-IX.

Also, they should hire the zombies John Ford and Akira Kurosawa to consult. EDIT to add Irvin Kershner, as mentioned in the next post.

They should bring back the only guy that did a decent Star Wars film - Irvin Kershner - to direct.

Oh no, er, nevermind.
