I just rented this horror of a fantasy flick from Netflix just to see what the ruckus was about.

I think this is the Battlefield Earth or Star Wars Prequels of fantasy films! Even if you haven't read the books (count me in the group of "have-not's") the movie is dogged by a story line that was like someone sat on the remote and accidently hit the fast forward button all the way through. Horrible editing, horrible pacing, bad acting, and really stupid plot (if you can find one, that is).

Every big name actor in this film must have laughed all the way to the bank! The effects, for the most part, were well done.

The audio was pretty darn good, however, the LFE channel is recorded too hot. The video was okay, but not the best high def I've seen of late. MPEG-2 bitrates were only average.

If you want to see a GOOD, serious-minded, non-LOTR fantasy film with a dragon in it (and pretty doggon good early ILM S/FX) do yourselves a favor and rent DragonSlayer. I can't wait for that classic on Blu-ray! A MUST BUY!

Can't agree about the Star Wars prequel trilogy which I love but 100% agreed on Dragonslayer. Bring it on!

Default Eragon - Worth buying?

Has anyone purchased Eragon on BD? Haven't seen it yet and looks like a movie that'd be cool on BD.. or is it right up there with Dragon Heart? Appreciate any input.. thanks.

Thumbs up Just got it too!

The picture and sound quality make this movie very enjoyable - especially the battle scenes and panoramic vistas while flying on the dragon!

You have to admit that the story is a little weak and some of the acting sucks, but for a short film in its genre it is enjoyable and re-watchable for me.

I just wish the Fox blu-ray movies weren't so expensive.

Eragon is just a blatant attempt to cash in on what was a relatively successful book.

The similarities between the book and the movie end at the title. It's not just an issue of it being difficult to compress a book into two hours... I'll put it this way. Eragon is to fantasy book/movies as Daredevil was to comic book/movies.

Eragon was a horrible movie. Mostly aimed towards kids. The acting is cheesy at times. But if you have kids, I think kids would certainly enjoy it.

I love this movie! I am baffled by all the bad reviews this movie got. Okay the acting is maybe not the bestm but it is certainly not the worst and i thought the conversion to Blu was pretty awesome! Does anyone else here like this film? I hope they make a sequel!

I took my sons to see it. I thought it was pretty good. The special effects were very good. The story was OK. It looked to be set up for a part 2. I doubt we'll see it.

I wouldn't buy it on BD.

I liked it.

I think it could have been much better - they had 100 million to spend!

That said, my 2 sons just love Eragon and we bought it on DVD last year. Eventually we'll replace with the BD.

The books were great. Eragon and Eldest. The Third still hasnt been made.

The movies isnt terrible if you havent read the books. The movie was just so mediocre. They changed a lot from the books. It was also only an hour and a half. you rarely have decent book to movie translations in that amount of time.

I wonder how you pronounce the word "sence." You might be thinking of the word "scene"? I wouldn't mention it, but you did use it twice, so it seemed like you knew a word no one else knows.
