I'll be picking this up as i enjoyed it in the theaters just felt like it was cut too much by the studios. Now that i find out it was originally four hours I hope for a full release one day. I am both a huge Wu-tang fan and a martial arts fan so its a no brainer.

ok i need to watch this thread more. 4 hours? I just watched this and thought that it was a GREAT throwback to old Samurai flicks. Great characters and story telling.

I highly doubt that a full version will get released. I will have to say that i would double dip. Good stuff.

I liked the film a lot after seeing it in theaters back in November, and having watched it a few more times over the past week and a half, I've completely fallen in love with it. The story is a lot more enjoyable once you're already familiar with it.

I prefer the extended edition, and am crossing my fingers that the sequel that was set up in the credits gets made somewhere down the line.

Agree 100% with the first paragraph. Don't agree with the second regarding the extended edition. I hated a couple aspects of the extended edition (all I liked was the extra scenes with the monks)

But yes....this movie is amazing and I can't stop watching it haha

i borrowed my friend's copy of this movie. It freakin' stinks! Glad I didn't buy it. RZA is a terrible actor. He should not quit whatever his day job is because acting is not for him. The other actors were decent but RZA pulls them down along with his unimpressive performance.

So I just finished watching this movie...if that's what you can call it. This was mediocre at best & I'm a fan of Kung-Fu movies. Actually it is teetering on the precipice of horrible. The fight scenes were for me the only thing decent about this flick & that's pushing it. I'm extremely thankful that I did not spend $8 @ the theater to watch this. I'm almost regretful that I spent the $1.50 @ RedBox on it. To anybody that liked this movie, I'm not attacking you as this my opinion of this movie. So please don't flame me for saying my peace.

Rented and watched this tonight. At first was not sure if I would like it but stuck with it - liked it by the end. It gave my sub a serious workout.

I'm a huge fan of both old school kung fu films and Rza. I was so excited when I heard this was finally getting made, probably more so then any other film last year aside from Django. When I finally got around to seeing it, it was probably the worst martial arts film I've seen in a long time. What the hell? I think Eli Roth, who is not a fan of martial arts films and finds the fight scenes "boring" didn't help matters. I am surprised Tarentino didn't re-write the entire thing for Rza. I bought the blu-ray, because I want to support Rza and hope he gets to make another kung fu film, hopefully all his own.

Between this and G.I. Joe 2, RZA should stick to his day job. Seen better acting in amateur porn.

I had no idea who RZA was, or Eli Roth for that matter, so had very little idea what to expect based on those names. I saw the trailer, thought it would be fun entertainment, and it was exactly that, for me anyway.

I think when you've grown up having watched Lucinda Dickey (who, on a side note, looks gorgeous in her picture on IMDb) in a Sho Kosugi Ninja film, you've got the dodgy acting bit pretty well covered.

Glad I bought it... which is more than I can say about Man of Steel, or the Godawful Spiderman. I'd buy a sequel, if there ever was one.

Now personally I absolutely loved this movie, saw it 3 times in the theaters in the first week it came out. Call me whatever you want but I loved it. It was exactly what I wanted. It wasn't supposed to be a cinematic masterpiece, it's a kung fu movie from RZA with Russell Crowe. If you expected great dialogue and acting and an intricate plot then I'm sure you were disappointed.

Anyway....if you haven't seen this yet and are planning on either buying the blu-ray or renting it, do yourself a favor and watch the theatrical version instead of the unrated, it really is the superior version. Not because it's shorter, but because the minor changes (for me at least) severely altered a part of the movie and some other minor changes just didn't fit or were unnecessary to include.

There was literally one scene they added to the unrated version that I was happy to see, the rest I had no need for, and one in particular really really bothered me a lot
Can you tell what duration difference the Unrated version is? I have the French version that is 107 minutes, and Amazon says 108 minutes for the unrated ...

Question for anyone who bought the Blu-ray: Is there any way to redeem the unrated version of the movie with a digital UV code? On VUDU, the only UV redemption option I'm getting is for the theatrical cut. Thanks.
