Ive always been leery of any company that relies on infomercials to sell its products. But thats just me.

...and goshdarnit a Subwoofer should never be referred to as a "bass module".

Well calling it a subwoofer would be false advertising

There's a Bose store in the ritzy mall here in Tampa. Every once in awhile I venture in just for the hell of it. Back before I started doing any sort of research for my audio setup, I was digging the Bose systems. Now when I listen to them I can't help but laugh to myself. When I was working at Best Buy I couldn't tell you how many people thought Bose was the be-all and end-all of home theater.

you should see the all in one guitar amp they have, they say you don't have to carry alot of pa equipment, for bass all you need is a bass module add on and if you have a band all you need is one for each member lol i call that alot of pa gear

Me too! I hated it when people came in and just wanted to hear BOSE. Someone made an excellent observation about Bose in-store displays. They all always have one setup that is all alone away from any other sound equipment. They pay BB and other stores big money for this(at least that's what my BB store manager told me, but what would he know about it ). What's funny is that most people who own Bose defend it to the death. They say things like, "Well I care more about PQ, anyway." Then why are you paying huge money for Bose? Seriously, you can spend half as much and get a better, full range system. I think the best advice is just let the Bose-lovers be and be happy in the fact that you didn't waste your money on a second-rate audio setup.

I must say this was an interesting read, a few years back myself & a friend went to a HI-FI expo (Sydney-Australia) and we did walk into the BOSE sound-room I must say they were very organised & very helpful with their customers we even got a free shirt from them but after having heard their demo I wasn't impressed at all, I walked out of there very disappointed, there's far better systems that out-perform BOSE big time, I guess I also did my good deed of the day because my friend was determined to get a BOSE system but I told him let's go to some of the other sound-rooms, like NHT, ENERGY, B&W and several others, in the end he realised BOSE wasn't what he was expecting, he could not believe the difference in sound quality, he ended up getting a nice NHT system

I don't think Bose sounds horrible, but there is much much better stuff out there for far less $$.
I like music and movies loud and this is where Bose falls way short. They just crap out.
The masses that think they know good sound can pretend that they know good sound in Bose.. but can't fault Bose for having a good marketing approach.

Slightly better than average for a way over average price.. No thanks..

The Bose system in my old car sounded much better than what came in my new car, but that's another topic

No kidding - you have the right your opinion, but the way you are arguing it really is letting you down at the moment.

One of the few things I'm truly happy not to own.

If you think the article dobyblue posted is biased, do you have any scientific proof to prove otherwise? If not, you don't have to reply, just go and enjoy your Bose.
