Default Oscar Snubs that make you pissed?

Snubs for any catagorys from any film year that make you furious?

Mine is that Cloud Atlas didn't get nominated for makeup.

What do you guys think?

Rebel Wilson for supporting actress in Pitch Perfect. Jacki Weaver stole her nomination.

nothing specific for this year but the common one in general - sci-fi and horror getting ignored year after year in catagories like acting directing, etc. some do get nominated but it is few and far between. Top 3 grossing movies of 2012 - Avengers, Dark Knight Rises and Hunger Games and how many nominations did they get? Lincoln was #14, Django was #16, Argo #22, Life of Pi #27 - hell, Magic Mike and 21 Jump Street made more money than Life of Pi. High box office doesn't always mean it was a good movie but it is a little crazy when Avengers and Dark Knight make over a $1 Billion and can't get nominated outside of the technical side of things.

I'm actually quite pleased that Cloud Atlas didn't get nominated for makeup, because I thought it looked completely ridiculous. Probably more of a fault with the movie's concept than the work of the makeup artists, but nevertheless...

Personally I felt The Master should've won at least one of its acting nominations. Haven't seen Lincoln so I don't know how good DDL was in that role. Christoph Waltz was fine, but for my money, Philip Seymour Hoffman had a miles more compelling, nuanced performance.

I do agree that Doona Bae as a white woman and Jim Sturgess as an Asian were the only two that were ok. Other than that, LOVED the others.

I do understand and respect your opinion though.

The Academy still considers comic book movies kid stuff. I don't care what anyone says The Avengers should have gotten that effects Oscar.

Dark knight Rises should have gotten a nom for a sound category, and probably visual effects too.

I think Life of Pi is a bit overrated imo, yes the visuals are stunning but still......

Actually I'm also glad that Cloud Atlas didn't get nominated for makeup.
Some of them were so terrible and unconvincing that it took me out of the movie. Instead of focusing and trying to figure out all the complexity in the movie, I was keep thinking how horrible those make-ups were (also the really hard to understand dialect from the most future part of the movie - it actually reminded me of "Airplane" when they were joking about speaking "jive" )

I really want to read the book now, because it did seem really interesting. But the movie had me too distracted with the terrible make-up(and the "jive" talking )

The Dark Knight should've been nominated for Best Picture when it came out. The Dark Knight Rises? Outside of some technical nominations, it was rightfully shut out. Same with The Avengers. No performance in the movie warranted a nomination, and I don't think it was Best Picture material either.

Now, Skyfall I would say was the "Blockbuster" that deserved to be in the running for Big Picture.

Here are some nominations I would've liked to have seen:

Looper - Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor (Pierce Gagnon)
The Dark Knight Rises - Best Supporting Actor (Michael Caine)
Moonrise Kingdom - Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor (Bill Murray)
The Perks of Being a Wallflower - Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor (Ezra Miller)

Yes, I do realise all of them contain supporting actor noms....

Cloud Atlas not getting the nom for makeup surprised me, but didn't bother me. I didn't hate the makeup in the movie, some of it was very well done, but other moments....oooo boy it didn't work.

My snubs are Looper for Original Screenplay, and Perks for Adapted Screenplay.

Also, if Cloud Atlas was going to get something, it should have been Score. That felt like a snub to me.

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower.

I also wish Silver Linings would have won more.

Problem with Philip Seymour Hoffman's nomination was it should have been a best Actor nomination.

I 100% agree with you, except on Pierce Gagnon (I thought he was ok) and Moonrise Kingdom because I haven't seen it yet

Why should box office equal awards? Does that mean Justin Bieber should also win all the Grammys?

And Life if Pi has made almost $600 million worldwide, more than all the other Best Picture nominees.

Obviously Affleck should've been nominated and won for Argo. And TDKR, while pretty much junk, should've been nominated for best score.

+1...I hated The Avengers & to me TDKR is Nolan's weakest. They did not warrant any nomination in major categories.
