Out of all the actors in TDKR? Michael Caine and his blubbering? I thought the scenes with Alfred tended to be the most awful parts of the movie, honestly

I agree. Over the course of the 3 films he was great, but TDKR was his worst.
And not in it enough for me to say without him the film would have been that much better or worse.

How does it feel to be heartless? A couple of his scenes still choke me up a little, and that almost never happens.

I'm not really pissed about any snubs, but it seems odd that Affleck wasn't nominated for Director, especially since Argo won.

The thing that bugs me about the Oscars is that they simply pick 10 movies, and then recycle them throughout all the categories.

I would have loved to see a few nods to the little guys. Best Supporting Actress to Ann Dowd in Compliance. Best Adapted Screenplay to Perks Of Being A Wallflower. Etc.

However, I'm not at all surprised that they weren't nominated.

I'm glad Argo took Best Picture. Superb film. I would have been annoyed if Lincoln or Zero Dark Thirty took it.

None really upset me this year. Overall I felt that it was a down year, not many categories that I felt all that strongly about anyway. The few that I didn't like...

Best Supporting Actor - Christoph Waltz was a co-lead, not a supporting character. TBS, I didn't really like any of the other nominees all that much. I would have gone for John Goodman for Flight.

Best Original Screenplay - Django Unchained, probably went to Tarantino by default because so many academy members didn't like the work by Wes Anderson or the controversy surrounding Zero Dark Thirty.

Best Foreign Language Film - Intouchables should have at least got a nomination to make this category interesting.

Best Animated Feature Film - Brave received the obligatory Pixar Oscar(the name will officially be changed next year). I haven't seen any of the other nominees yet, but surely one of them was better than Merida and the dancing bears.

I think Skyfall for Best Picture or at least Best Director. But oh well. I at

least grabbed a Tech award and Best Song. Not bad.

yeah and they need to be submitted which is a little confusing - how can you select the best picture of the year when you are only looking at some movies? it is like saying you won first place at a beauty pageant but you had to pay a $100 000 entry fee so only a handful of people entered. also makes me laugh when a movie wins best picture yet doesn't sweep(or at least win a lot of) the rest of the categories - you would think best picture would mean they had the best of everything. unless there is no way around it, it is almost like they say "okay, we need to be fair and spread out the awards. no movie should hog them all"

I agree for the most part. I think if a film is really good, it shouldn't be frowned upon just because it is a comic book adaptation. The Dark Knight most definitely deserved a Best Picture nomination in 2008. I'd argue that Robert Downey Jr. should've gotten a Best Actor Nomination for Tony Stark that year as well (amazingly enough, he got Supporting Actor for Kirk Lazarus instead.)

This year though, of the big money makers, I don't think any really stood outside of maybe Looper and Skyfall. I do think DKR deserved to get some technical nominations though.

The oscars suck! its just a bunch of old crusty dudes who favor boring indie flicks.
