Is it true that GT does not have damage because of the contracts with the auto companies?

The game would be much better with some wear and tear at least... The major discrepancy between the real and the digital, is the real looks like it has been on the track, and not in a PS3.

it looks sweet, however for those who haven't played i suggest downloading the demo from psn cause those pics are of the cut scenes, actual game play does not look quite as good. it is still amazing though

No, thats totally false. Look at Forza or PGR both of those have damage.

The reason there is no damage in GT is because PD (Polyphony Digital) is made up by perfectionist and they don't want to do half-assed unrealistic damage, when damage comes to GT, which it will, PD has stated that it will, it will look as realstic as these cars do.

That is cool ... although I'd prefer last year's McLaren myself... just as fast and more reliable. Ferrari's off to a very bad start in 2008 with 2 DNFs at Melbourne last Sunday whereas McLaren won the race and they "could have gone quicker" according to Hamilton.

Interesting the price - 200,000,000 - that is twice the cost of the fine McLaren paid last year for taking secrets about this 2007 Ferrari from a disgruntled Ferrari employee (200MM is also probably half the money spent on developing/running this car)

From wikipedia:

Quote:
Despite the commercial success of the series, Gran Turismo has sometimes been subject to criticism. For example, the game contains no damage-modeling due to licensing agreements prohibiting car damage (Gran Turismo 2 did feature damage but only physical damage, not cosmetic damage).
I believe it is a combination of the two. While Forza and PGR may feature car damage, they don't have the same car library as GT. If there are restrictive licences on even a single vehicle in a GT game, damage is a no go - you can't just do it for some; it's all or nothing. PD has been working on damage modeling, so why we haven't seen it is somewhat of a mystery.

Taken originally from Kotaku.com in an interview with series creator Kazunori Yamauchi (Aug '07):

Quote:
Also at the behest of fans is a working damage model, one of unspecified depth. We didn't see Kaz run into anything during our session, so it was hard to tell if the game features the system in place yet. When asked about the new built-from-the-ground-up AI code and the option for car damage, Yamauchi indicated that CPU controlled drivers are aware of the new penalties for playing "bumper cars." With up to sixteen cars on the track, they need to be aware of each and the danger of spinning out when one comes in contact with another.

Not me! I want the real Ferrari (you know the one that won both titles), not the McFerrari!
