I'll never forget them showing that the following night on Nitro. Tony said it was graphic but I ignored his warning as I shoved a slice of pizza in my mouth. Can't remember if I finished eating after I saw it.

A few years ago I was looking up random wrestling clips and someone had a clip called "Funny Wrestling Blooper" and it was Sid breaking his leg. I saw it live on PPV when it happened, so I got a really good laugh when I saw that was the video title on youtube.

Lot's of good memories. I was in college, we would setup 2 TV's on Monday night and watch WCW and WWE.

WCW started the death knoll when Hogan refused to cleanly job to Sting at Starcade '97.

You didn't see the break happen during the PPV. He was already on the ground holding his leg when the camera came to him. It was Nitro that showed it in full.

what sucks is that best buy has an exclusive dvd only release with 2 bonus matches which won't be on their blu version
the matches are
Rey Mysterio & Lord Steven Regal vs. Eddie Guerrero & Dean Malenko
3rd November, 1997

WCW United States Championship Match
Sting vs. Bret “Hit Man” Hart
5th October, 1998

i think the 1st match sounds amazing

I read elsewhere, that its nothing to be excited about...both matches (including entrances and post match) is 15 minutes combined. The Blu-ray version has nearly 1hr 45 minutes of extra content with some rare nice gems.

If you want to argue that Hall and Nash whom were former WWF wrestlers made WCW so freakin good, we could say that. The nWo invasion angle is arguably the most iconic in all of wrestling. First time stars crossed into different companies and made it feel like there was a company feud.
WWF was stuggling but if you read old Wrestling Observers they weren't on life support. They were much worse off in 94 and 95.

97 was my favorite year of wrestling, and nothing will top the rise of Stone Cold in my opinion. I loved the Attitude Era growing up, but re-watching Raws from mid 1998 to mid 1999 have changed my opinion. There's a lot of terrible stuff on there, and some really poor wrestling.

i've noticed this with a few wwe releases - stores are selling them a good week before they should.

i miss wcw. it might not have always been a good show but it had a different feel to wwf and lets face it, wwe isn't putting out the best product right now. with Turner's money, they were able to try things that Vince just couldn't. Sometimes they worked, like with the nWo, and sometimes they didn't, like a lot of other things, but at least we had fun watching it and seeing what happened. if they hadn't lost tv, i bet they would still be around - probably a lot smaller but still around.

We need real competition...but it seems that will never happen, especially after TNA's failed Monday night program.

If you are a wrestling fan I recommend New Japan. Their recent iPPVs have been incredible.

probelm is we will never have the same sort of competition because wwe is so large now. at least when the Monday Night Wars started, wwf and wcw were relatively equal so no one had a real edge. now, tna doesn't really have a hope unless they can get some high profile wrestlers away from wwe, both veterans and new hot talent, and even in that case, it is a long hard road to get anywhere near wwe's level. i am so-so with Japanese wrestling, mostly because i don't like all the gimmicks they use for the wrestlers. that was the cool part when wcw really got hot - less gimmicks, more wrestlers. unless something happens and wwe collapses, i think the next batch of wars will be for who is the best alternative to wwe, not who can beat them. i don't think we will see another wcw.

I think you would be pleasantly surprised by these New Japan shows. Wrestle Kingdom 7:

Several fantastic matches on that card.

Haven't really looked at the match list, but can somebody tell me what matches are included on this? Some of my personal favorites that I remember are:

Sting vs. Goldberg (WCW World Heavyweight Championship) 9/14/98

Sting vs. Golderg vs. Kevin Nash vs. DDP (WCW World Heavyweight Championship) 4/26/99

The biggest surprise for me was seeing quite a handful of Jeff Jarrett matches. Hell, even one of the Blu-Ray exclusives is Double J attacking newly crowned WCW Champion Bret Hart. Despite JJ holding up Vince for more money (and rightfully so) as well as being involved with TNA, I don't think JJ is blacklisted from WWE anymore.

I think so. Lots of goodies on this set and it is certainly better than Volume 1. My main gripe is even though they kept intact a lot of themes (Mysterio, Guerrero) even the knockoff ones (Jericho, Page), but yet for some reason they keep dubbing over Goldberg's theme. That sh** pisses me off!
