If it were me, I and I had about $2,500 for a PS3 and Speakers/Receiver, here's what I would get...... and keep in mind, everyone has their own brand loyalties etc. and you'll get numerous suggestions.....

PS3 Buy it at a Sony Style store and if you sign up for their CC you get $100 off..... Either way, Budget $500 for this.

Speakers. Get five M-1's They're satellite speakers, they're $200 each.

O.K. Now you need a Sub...... May I suggest...... this Velodyne

http://www.amazon.com/Velodyne-DPS-1...5865119&sr=8-4

10" sub, and PLENTY of power to give you some nice bass for music and it goes low enough to make your movie experience quite nice......

So that's another $400, so that leaves about $600 left in your budget.....

You can get the Onkyo 705 receiver (which is a crowd favorite around here, and although I don't have one, and never heard one, it has all the options you need)

http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-TX-SR705...5865292&sr=1-3

That's $583 wow.... leaves $17 in your budget which is more than enough to go to MONOPRICE.COM and buy two HDMI cables......

ALL SET, within your budget, and you'll have great sound.

I have auditioned those speakers (I don't have them, I have other B&W speakers though) and I can tell you for a fact, they are some of the nicest Satellite style speakers I've ever heard.

Get ready for an in-flux of suggestions. If you want to save a couple hundred bucks, the onkyo 605 receiver (get the silver one to save some more money, same receiver, just different color) and you'll still have all the options you need.

Good luck..... buying audio is like any other addiction though!!!!!
