Atto di Forza - The Italian version. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Total...Blu-ray/50303/

Just received this. It's only 10 euros.

Although the box is in Italian the disc might be better for English speakers. Looking at the review these are the differences I noticed.

1) The only lossless track is English but there are a bunch of dts tracks.
2) Both commentaries and all features are available from the English menu.
3) The trailer has subtitles in a load of languages.
4) It's Region free.
5) It has a 6 page booklet (In Italian)

I haven't watched the film yet but if anyone wants any more info, just ask.

This is probably a stupid question but I'll ask it anyways. I assume this release is better than the Uncut Special Edition SteelBook from Kinowelt Home Entertainment?

Which is the best version of Total Recall to own, the one with the blue-ish cover or the one with the red-ish?

The blue is the original release I think, and has no extras.

The new version has a new transfer approved by Paul Verhoeven and it's better than the earlier release (I haven't gone through it yet but it's had very high praise with the review). I bought the new one for £10 in ASDA and the earlier release as part of the Schwarzenegger set (with Raw Deal and Red Heat), for about £6 so if you can find them cheap it might be worth buying those two sets as you'll get 4 films for not a lot of money. The new one has special features whilst the old release is pretty much bare-bones.

I'd imagine once you've seen the new transfer having watched the old one you'll be off to Rekall to erase it from your memory...

Whichever you choose, the colour timing is also different between the two transfers.

Bought this recently (single disc version) and I also have a sync problem. Notice issues throughout the movie, some parts worse than others.

I do notice a lot of jitter though as if its dropping frames, so could me player cannot handle this disc properly. Don't have another player to test it on though.

Not enough of a problem for me to return it and if it was a big problem I'm sure there would more noise about it and haven't heard of a batch recall (pun intended ).

Kristopher did you ever get a better copy?

Just got this, not seen it in over 10 years. Much better than I remember.

Question (apologies if this comes across as stupid): With all the memory plot points eventually playing out, to what exactly does the title refer too? What is totally recalled? Are we to assume it's referring to Quaid/Hauser recalling the memory of the alien device?

As I interpret it, it is a reference to the possible situation when Quaid remembers who he is. If I recall correctly (pun intended), it is mentioned by the bad guys in the film that they need to stop him before Quaid experiences 'total recall'... Or did I miss something?

You're correct saying it's the point Quaid remembers he's Carl Hauser and not Quaid and the firm offering memory or ego trips is called Rekall.

This. Proof that an action movie can also be a smart one (for the time) I love this movie.

I love the remake as well as this, they're both great entertainment in different ways, but both a compelling take on the story.

The only thing the remake compelled me to do is hit fast forward.

That's harsh. Even if you weren't feeling the story or characters, the production design and fx are magnificent and worth at least one watch.

Not harsh really. One watch and thats it. Unlike Verhoeven's film which is a minor gem.
