This actually works for me... helps me spread out the budget since I am buying other Scream/Shout releases in March.

Scream Factory has done absolutely nothing to make me question their judgment. If they say it needs to be delayed a month or so to be up to their usual standards, I believe them.

And like HDMe said, I'm already planning on picking up Phantasm II and From Beyond in March, so I'm fine with the releases being spread out a little more.

Bottom line, a majority of his work is stolen. (Not referenced or inspired). No question about it. I would hope this isn't totally ripped off from someone's work as it looks pretty amazing.

Wow... a lot of those are a hell of a stretch. Especially the ones where the point out one tiny little thing that is slightly similar between the two.

It's much ado about nothing as usual. The accusations of plagiarism in this case are downright ridiculous.

Sure there's a few that look really really similar. But most of the examples are a pretty big stretch.

Seriously?

It's pretty cut and dry (or cut and paste in this case!). If I paid big bucks for one of these designs I'd be pissed.

I agree. The first few may be a bit of a stretch but when you get to some of the bottom ones they are identical.

That Prowler one has to be an intentional and obvious tribute/in-joke right? Otherwise, that's blatant theft.

Yikes. Definitely looks like blatant ripping off of someone else's hard work. How lame. Hope nothing from the Lifeforce cover was stolen.

Someone should (politely) say something, armed with printouts of those comparisons. Some of those are really egregious thievery.

Oh boy, after really looking at these images and comparing them - this is worrying. I like his art, but I gotta say, this doesn't look good. Shame because I love this blu-ray cover. But these images are clearly almost identical - if not entirely, than certainly at least part of each image is virtually an exact tracing of the original. Look at the way pants are even identical, right down to the same exact ruffles in the the way the fabric is painted - there's no hiding that these images are clearly copying other works of art.

It's one thing to do a homage, but when your painting looks like you traced over the original, then that's a problem.

Not only does it include elements from that Prowler poster, but the image of the character holding the scissors is from the poster for Schizoid (1980).

Hmm, could this be part of the reason for the delay?

well now I'm VERY curious to know what prior movie poster had visual elements borrowed for the 'Lifeforce' bluray cover artwork

I am, too, honestly. It's a shame, since the Lifeforce artwork was my favorite of the commissioned artwork that Scream has used...

If they have to replace the artwork, there is nothing saying that they can replace it with the Japanese artwork (that is on the Italian blu-ray cover). They can have the "eyeball" poster for the slip sleeve and outer cover, and have the Jap art on the reverse (so nobody will get upset from the covered bosoms).
