What do you mean "Uncut Version"? I've never heard that the U.S. or any other versions are cut (IMDb/BRDC list only 1 runtime - 144 min). I have the "Collector's Edition" and I'd hate to think that I missed something.

P.S. I just saw this on the list. Anyone know what the cuts are, how much time was cut, whether the difference is worth caring about? Do the uncut versions contain all the extras in the "Collector's Edition"?

Technically if you're referring to field rate the proper notation is; 1080i50, or if referring to frame rate; 1080i/25.

The MPAA in America demanded certain minute cuts to Casino Royale for a PG-13 rating. Here is one such comparison:

Yeah, Blu-ray.com's notation isn't really correct. I have stated this in the improvement thread sometime ago.

Its nothing major though.

Thanks for the info, but, unfortunately, that article seemingly raises more questions (possibly a typo?). It says that there are 29.62 seconds cut from the U.S. version and 7.84 seconds cut from the German version - yet it lists the U.S. runtime as 2:24:13 and the German runtime as 2:18:43!?!

HD, did whoever submitted this info to you actually have the Australian version? I'd like to know if it is totally uncut, and thus longer than either of these versions, or if it has different cuts of it's own? Because, again, both IMDb and BRDC list the same 144 minute runtime for all versions. Also, I take it that the AQ & PQ are the same for all versions and that it is only these cuts which are different?

Difference is probably due to PAL speedup.

There are 3 different cuts: US - UK - rest of the world.

I actually meant that some MODs or something should correct the mistakes with 1080/50i and such in the database, but you corrected it here, it's ok.

I'd like to know if video quality on the Australian version of the Hunger Games is a noticeably better than the US one.

Precisely, the comparison is between one NTSC DVD and a PAL DVD.

Actually 4, Germany has had some cuts so it doesn't fall in with the 'rest of the world'.

Yeah, I thought of that because I recall hearing about what I took to be a slight speedup problem with one of the formats - but a 5.5 minute difference!? That would seem just shy of Alvin & The Chipmunks range. The music, to say nothing of the voices, would have to be seriously compromised. Anyway, I take from all this that the only full versions playable on region A players are the Australian and French editions, neither of which appear to be available (based on the fact that no one ever answered The Drugstore's original post).

I thought I did answer this? Or have I given a link to the wrong movie? In case you missed the link, I have edited the post slightly.

Due to the Pal speedup, a 100 min Pal DVD is the equivalent to a 104 min cinema or NTSC runtime.
So yes in the case of Casino Royale there would be an almost 6 minutes difference

4% Pal speedup > 1 minute every 25 minutes

Notting Hill
US - No release
UK - VC-1 2.35:1, DTS-HD MA 5.1, extras, DNR/EE, extras but missing DVD commentary (Region free)
DE - VC-1 2.35:1 29875 kbps, DTS-HD MA 5.1 2788 kbps 24-bit, extras (Region free)
IT - VC-1 2.35:1 29875 kbps, DTS-HD MA 5.1 2788 kbps 24-bit, BD50 (Region free)

FR - DTS-HD MA 5.1, BD50 (Region free) - 5 Languages, 16 Subtitles, extras

Don't know if you can add this French info as I can't confirm the video codec, however : it is Universal and I assume all these discs are the same. The French info is taken from BRDC & Amazon.FR. I also checked on the Italian version on Amazon.IT and the small picture shows that it also has extras. It's too small to see which ones (and Google won't translate the info in boxes), but again, I assume all of these are the same (all appear to have the same 5 languages and 16 subs). If it helps ...
