Wouldn't that affect PAL DVD playback on the unit?

Plus since the EU PS3 doesn't have an emotion engine, wouldn't the USA compatibility updates mess things up?

no sonys getting rid of the emotion engine and all together for know on i believe or until there supply runs a little lower

To answer your question, as of April 8 2007 at 4:45PM +8 GMT, I don't know when the next update will be.

Come on guys. Yes a question mark is better than an !. But remember this is a multinational site and even in the English speaking world some of us aren't the greatest with grammar or spelling (I win the spelling dunce contest). The easiest way is just send a report on the thread with suggestions and someone will get to it. It's a fair question, but I don't think anyone has the answer - yet.

Updates come out on an as needed basis.

FWIW... major updates are given a full number designation. It's why bluetooth keyboard and background downloading got 1.6 treatment while the prior ones were in increments of 1.51... 1.52....etc.

2.0 will have to be a huge update. The speculation on that should be entertaining. Supposedly Sony already has the benchmarks set for each FW update so someone has to know at least what's in the update but not the when.

I know there will be a major one when HOME is released. This is happening October/November time frame.

Will it have Upconverting/DTS-MA/1080p-24 no one knows.
