The average person is not a moron. Sorry to break that to you. The most informed consumers are the ones who understand and have adopted streaming in certain respects.

Also, consumer tastes change, I used to be firm on the idea that I needed to own the media, I am now past it. Yes there are some movies that I do want to own but for the most part I just to watch the movie.

The movies such as Adventureland, Welcome to the Riley's and Tender Mercies were great off if Apple TV. I do see as much value to get these movies on blu rayy

You are lucky to not live in a Wi-fi congested area. Anywhere with an abundance of 2.4 GHz wireless traffic will destroy DLNA streaming and even a lot of Netflix streaming. I dealt with the pain of this for many months before I put down over $150 for a router capable of dealing with the congestion in my area.

Just because YOUR experience is okay doesn't mean that for the majority it is also. Anyone living in an apartment complex or congested downtown area with many homes or households nearby will experience tremendous congestion from other families or businesses and their Wi-fi devices.

Also, my microwave is powerful enough to bring down the neighbor's Wi-fi router for as long as I please since it also operates on the 2.4 GHz spectrum and is more powerful by far than any router on the market.

The average person DOES NOT CARE about sound. Master audio does not mean much to average people.
So you admit that 1080p streaming struggled on your laptop? That's the thing about Blu-ray, once it gets going, you never have an interruption. Since you've clearly never dealt with the frustration that sets in when your DLNA server or internet connection acts up again and again, I can see why you're okay with streaming, to a degree (and we're not even talking about picture and sound here, just ease of experience).

You can think whatever you want to, but I keep bringing up point after point that is relevant to business and personal interests in the streaming market, and it is clear from all data available that Blu-ray will remain strong and grow at a faster pace than streaming has any chance of doing in the current environment that is present in the U.S.

I hope you know I appreciate the irony that you have been arguing streaming over bluray on blu-ray.com.

Considering that this is a forum for blu-ray enthusiasts and there don't seem to be a lot of other users agreeing with you that physical media will be replaced by streaming or is being overtaken by streaming to own ............ you may try your arguments on your fellow streaming enthusiasts.

Uhmmm..... if streaming is so popular, where is the streaming.com forum?
I can't seem to find that site?

What I have found is that streaming is very player dependent. Apple TV does iTunes and Netflix the best I have ever seen. I watch on a 52" inch sharp and it is stunning. My laptop could not produce the 1080p image nearly as good as the the Apple TV. The laptop had no issue with 720p. Ps3 really sucks bad. At 65", you are pretty much locked in to use blu ray.

The hard line makes no difference on my Apple TV.

Page master, in my opinion, you seem to be going for the record for most mentions of apple in a forum topic?

most times I post something but I figure it will make sense to someone

I am not saying streaming will replace tv right away but all it needs is the right push and things will change. who would have thought satelite tv would be sure a big thing? the cost alone was supposed to turn people away yet now you don't have to go without if you are in a rural area and you are not stuck with your local cable if you are in town. look at tv channels - why would you pay for a channel(HBO, etc) when you have network tv for free? at some point, someone with a little pull is going to try and sell a show to a network and for some reason or another will decide to go streaming on netflix instead. look at shows like Mad Men, Breaking Bad and True Blood - there was a time if a show wasn't on one of the Big 3, it was crap. all it takes is the right show and things will start to change.

All the same, streaming, cable or whatever. Sports is the biggie and no matter what technology is most popular you will always pay a lot of money for the luxury of live sport. Streaming will eventually cost the same as current cable and satellite services and when it does it will be pointless.

Me too, but I hope you don't think that comment was aimed at you, it was aimed at Pagemaster who said, without a trace of irony or self awareness, that streaming would be the way people would watch movies but, at the same time, was no threat to cable companies.

I agree with you re streaming and TV companies. It's already happening. The irony here is that cable subscribers and video movie renters are the same market more or less so it'll have far more of an immediate effect there than it will with home theatre enthusiasts who won't stop buying discs but people will cancel cable subs if Netflix offers more/the same for cheaper. Once the tech is established.

Things aren't all sunshine and lollipops at Netflix either. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out that having most of your premium disc service subscribers move to the $7.99 all you can stream package is going to eventually hurt their bottom line.

Basically Netflix is over valued and over leveraged due the cost of obtaining streaming content. I see significant price hikes in Netflix's future.

oh yeah, the unlimited cheap streaming is gonna come to an end. that I've predicted for a while now.

As long as Netflix remains profitable, I wouldn't actually count on that.

http://www.cnbc.com/id/100401289

At least, according to this article, the business is doing just fine as of January, and inking a deal with Disney as they have can only ensure a strong customer base, if only for the Disney content for customers' children.

Netflix did the right thing to get into the streaming part of the business, that will be the future. Going forward, Netflix will be fine.

What basis do you have for these statements? I'm not saying Netflix won't be fine, but they will only be fine if people are willing to basically pay cable TV rates for Netflix. They can't survive as the low-cost alternative they are now.
