These two posters are going to look amazing together on a plastic blue case...

And this art should look fantastic too, whichever they end up using...
PRAYING FOR BLU-RAY!!!

or

Which poster for "HOSPITAL MASSACRE" aka "X-RAY" do you hope they'll use?

Does anyone know how Shout got the SCANNERS films from MGM? I always thought ALL of the Scanners sequels were from Republic (Paramount), like Scanner Cop and Scanner Cop 2...

I'm also hoping for a SCANNER COP and SCANNER COP 2 release from someone, probably Olive.

I much prefer the X Ray artwork, but Hospital Massacre is a much better name.
Having a different name on the reverse makes things nice and interesting i think

I think that they are both really cool covers. But what are we suppossed to refer to this film as?

They are very inconssistent with what they are calling this movie...

I think that the SCANNERS double feature would be a better option, and it looks like that is what they're going with. Thene both good is some strange little cheesy way, but not good enough for me to drop 25$ a pop.

I would gladly buy the SCANNERS films and XRAY on bluray...

I'm also a member of the "get 'Hospital Massacre' on bluray club.
And I think a reversible slip with both art would work wonders.

And I just watched the trailers for "Schizoid", "Vagrant", and "Godsend".
THEY LOOK AWESOME

Personally, I think an Amityville Horror box set would be a pretty weak announcement. I mean, the first is already on blu (and I've got it), and I'd rather see 2/3 get separate releases (or as a double feature).

What about an Empire pictures box? I don't think Cliff shot down Ghoulies 1/2, Troll, Crawlspace, Breeders, or Cellar Dweller.

I just wonder if/when Scream Factory is going to respond to this? I would hope they don't support plagiarism in any fashion, and this is a true disgrace.

In a nutshell...

The artist who Scream Factory hired to do the Lifeforce Blu-ray cover art was recently the focus of an article at this page...

http://metalbandart.com/?p=2835

and a follow-up here...

http://metalbandart.com/?p=2917

...where it has been alleged that he has been getting paid by clients to produce "original" artwork, when most of his work liberally plagiarizes artwork from other artists (usually taking elements from older death metal album cover art, horror/exploitation movie posters, and old horror magazines)... not only duping his clients who thought they were getting original art, but also opening them up to potential lawsuits from the original artists whose work is being used to make money while they see nothing in the way of credit or royalties.

The part that Scream Factory has to worry about is that it appears as though he took existing elements from the original 1-sheet of NIGHTMARE CITY...

THE SURVIVALIST...

And even an original UK Quad poster for Lifeforce (the astronauts)...

And Scream Factory confirmed on Facebook that he's been hired to do artwork for two more Blu-ray titles this year. This was before the article and all the plagiarism allegations came out, however. Scream Factory has been silent since.

For comparison to the above elements, here's the Lifeforce Blu-ray artwork again in its entirety...

That's basically the gist. The original two articles have plenty of examples of the alleged plagiarism from other mediums. And even more have been uncovered even after those were published.

I hate to see a great company like Scream Factory mixed up in a mess like this, but unfortunately, they're not alone. According to the articles above, many of the metal bands he designed artwork for are very upset with him, and even Fright Rags has said that they will no longer be printing this Phantasm t-shirt that he designed for them...

I simply dont see how drawing a little inspiration from artwork he admires is "copying"...

Cliff actually came on here once and said "I never said no to Cellar Dweller".
And then he didn't answer if they had it or not.

He was also asked on facebook if there we're any mgm films, aside from the box sets, that were still yet-to-be-announced. They responded with a sly answer essentially saying "we have more mgm".

So, who knows.

Oh, I agree... but I don't know if that's case here. Hope the articles are wrong.

If anything similar to that happens that would be an easy day 1, price be damned...

These are far from inspiration though, these are straight up cut and paste photoshop jobs. Check out the articles linked as well as the Lifeforce thread on here.

Agreed. It seems like literally everything from his drawings have been stolen from somewhere, including the smallest things in the background. You have to wonder whether he can really draw anything at all!?

I liked the Lifeforce cover but they probably should change it and fire him from the two other upcoming titles he is working on, one being The Fog, to avoid any more controversy. Hopefully Nathan can jump in and do a cover for The Fog!

Wow. Excellent work finding the sources for his Lifeforce art! I knew I had seen something very similar before, just couldn't place it.

So far I haven't seen where Scream Factory has had anything to say publically about using his copy and paste artwork. I emailed them the initial link when the story first came out as I knew they had used him for several covers (Lifeforce and 2 others coming soon).

All this talk about the artist stealing images reminds me of a comic book artist called Greg Land. He is a highly paid artist who has stolen many times and still gets work from Marvel. Just google "Greg Land swipe" and take a look.

Has anyone ever revealed who actually outbid Scream/Shout for the first Scanners? I thought I saw that mentioned that Cliff said they were outbid.

Also...has The Car ever been mentioned as a Scream release? I think Universal had it but not sure if they still do. I would love to see that on Blu.

Scanners is believed to be an upcoming Criterion Collection bluray.
