Blu-ray Grand Duke

A new actor is playing Cobra Commander. Commander from the cartoon series (1984-5) has a high pitched whine/scowl/hiss, but it sounds cool for his character. For live action, it could work as long as he was as insane and arrogant as the cartoon character, who blames Destro for everything after Cobra Commander screws it up himself, never admitting fault. Arnold Vosloo (Spelling) would have made a good Destro I thought, but instead plays as Zartan.
They haven't showed him yet in the previews, hopefully they get a cooler face mask for him than the last movie, knowing they're only using the concept of the cartoon, not trying to recreate it. The link below lists the actor playing the Commander. He was a main bad guy in the 2009 Star Trek if I remember, and Iron Man. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0846687/?ref_=tt_cl_t15 The movie is pretty long, 110 minutes, compared to the average 90 minutes. More 3D to see. ![]() |

The main bad guy in the Star Trek movie, Nero, was played by Eric Bana a.k.a Bruce Banner in Ang Lee's Hulk. |

I saw the trailer in 3D for the first time before Jack the Giant Slayer and man was the 3D amazing! Stuff flying out of the screen, great depth, just from the trailer looks like it could be a real contender for best 3D effects in a live action movie.

Yeah, this one really stood out for the 3D to my amazement. I never expected it would look as great as it did. For that preview anyway. |

Saw the 3D trailers to both this and Iron Man 3 last night before Jack The Giant Slayer.
Have to say I was very impressed by what I saw. A lot of content appearing before the screen and exceptional depth throughout. Was certainly better than the Iron Man 3 trailer (in terms of 3D quality) and better than the actual feature (Jack). Saw the film at a very late screening, so that's probably the reasoning behind it, but the 3D was that strong that it gave me the kind of discomfort I experienced while watching Sammy's Adventures. I'm sure at a decent hour of the day when I haven't had a nightmare of a day preceding it, it'll be very enjoyable ![]() |

I wonder if Iron Man 3's 3D is the same team that did Avengers? If so, there is hope the 3D will deliver. In the 2012 early trailer, Snake Eyes swinging off a rope against the rocks made me wonder what he was doing jumping on the side of a cliff, fighting Ninjas. Makes a lot more sense having seen the 4 minute 3D preview; turns out to be a cool martial arts action sequence. ![]() The Rock (also in Journey 2 3D) and Bruce Willis will likely add more attitude to the series. |
