The PQ isn't going to be horrible. It's going to be what the filmmaker intended.

Exactly. It's not supposed to look professionally shot.

But it will look pretty good because it was shot with HD camcorders.

UK...That says it all. That's probably the only place you'll find them...imports. Like other good movies that are being released "across the pond" (e.g. Beowulf, The Isalnd, possibly Cloverfield) the movie studios are leaving people high-and-dry in their own backyard.

It's not a matter of if the film was great or not, it's a matter of Crapmount ignoring blu-fans.

I am frustrated by the lack of annoucements. NOBODY appears to know what is really going on, or at least be willing to share some insight into the situation. Maybe it is a situation with setting up the production lines, obtaining BD media, or ongoing negotiations with the BDA??? The vage statements from the digital bits, are not "cutting the mustard".

Hopefully the eventual BD has the 2 alternate endings that the DVD is getting.

Also it seems to be a no no to ask the insiders at the moment which is frustrating. Someone on here must know whats happening with Universal and Paramount.

I do not think that there is any reason (well with production anyways) as to why we cannot have Cloverfield out day and date with the DVD. All I care about is a bare bones edition anyways. I mean, I rarely, if ever, watch the special features of any DVD or Blu-ray. And if I do, it is only ever once. Who has time to sit and wade through 5-6 hours of bonus content? Not me. and I could care less about PiP or Profile 2.0 because I will never utilize that. All I want is amazing picture and sound quality. I do not mean to go on a rant here, but DVD's are double-dipped all the time. Blu-rays will be no different and so I say, release a bare bones now, and then later on a "Super Special Monster Edition" or something for the people who want the 12 hours of bonus content.

Default Cloverfield not on Blu?

Can anyone help tell me if Cloverfield will be on Blu? I see the 4/22 release date for DVD but no mention about Blu. Any info would be appreciated.

Also, if this is not the correct way to research this via the forums, please let me know. Thanks.

Your method of "research" doesn't bother me, but prepare for the incoming onslaught that will tell you to use the Search button. And no, Cloverfield has not been announced for high-definition release... Yet.

From what I've been reading it sounded like extra features were being added for the Blu-Ray edition. Of course this is all speculation at this time.

I imagine this isn't the last Cloverfield thread we'll see before the release date...

Yeah, the original info that came out was that the only way they could have it out day and date with the DVD release is if they just release it Barebones. Since there wasn't time to reincode all the HD-DVD extras for Blu-Ray and get the discs prepped. But since we've not seen hide nor hair of a Blu-Ray announcement, I'm guessing they're gonna wait and release a proper SE of the movie. Or at least... that's the way things are looking.

it's going to probably miss the 4/22 release date because they have to transfer the extras from the dead HD-DVD version, and convert to the awesome Blu-Ray version
