Wow! Those screenshots are terrible. It's all riding on the German release now!

Let's agree to disagree then

The french DC version looks pretty good to me comparing to the ugliness of the DNR'd and/or EE'd version from US and/or UK!

Do these screenshots actually represent what's on the disc?

The Screwhead Ed. especially looks like upscaled DVD.

The captures from the actual review look much better though

Yes.

Perhaps the german disc will sport a higher video bitrate or something and will sort the compression issues (such as on cap 3 of the DC version) but for the time being I'm sure it's the best we'll get for this movie without doing intensive remasterisation work

(I never cared about the Screwhead version so I don't take those caps into account)

Are the French subtitles forced or removable on the Filmedia release? (I.e. on a standalone BD player, not on a computer.)

Will tell you that once I'll receive my copy.
I only watched it at my friend, and I didn't check as I prefer the french dubbing track (it reminds me when I was young and discovered it for the first time on french VHS)

Very happy camper, if the lone German DC disc, manages to look as good.

There is a thread over as Cinefacts that mentioned that the subs are forced on the VOST!!

Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Those screenshots look much better then the ones from the Screwhead Edition. Much better colour timing.

Hm, that makes it very tempting... Can anyone who actually owns it confirm that the subtitles can be removed from all three versions of the movie?

Is the French release region-locked to "B" or is it region-free?

I got this disc today, and can confirm that the French subtitles are removable on all three versions of the movie. It also plays fine on both my region A and region B players.

Nope. The extras are: Deleted scenes, alternate ending, a making of featurette and some behind the scenes footage, interviews, and TV spots.
