Well thats not saying much when you face off against the likes of Meet the Spartans. Why would you carry a camera when your trying to escape death and the camera would likely be destroyed anyway.

SPOILER ALERT

The camera would have been destroyed when they nuked the city

Like the others said, way worse than Blair Witch. And honestly, the ammount of camera shake was pretty unrealistic and was made worse for the movie. People who own and have tested the camcorders used in the movie have said so. As for knowing what it was like going in, the trailers didn't show it nearly as bad as it was in the actual movie. Like I said, the movie was ok... but it wasn't anything to write home about.

The only shakey part that I even had the slightest bit of annoyance with was on the bridge trying to leave the city. Other than that, it was fine. I guess I am just used to shakey images perhaps? Whatever, I didn't have a problem with it. And it did not open up against Meet the Spartans. It opened against 27 Dresses and Mad Money. The following week 1/25 had Rambo and Meet the Spartans (which beat out Rambo sadly).

But the week after that Hannah Montana beat Cloverfield in 1/3 of the screens

Heres what I find unrealistic

SPOILER ALERT

The guy basically, I mean hes upset, but he basically doesnt care about hs brothers death, and just wants to find this girl that he wanted to be his girlfriend. If they thought they were going to outlive this then why wouldnt the guy care much about his brother dying? And why would you carry around a camera while your trying to escape? The guy will get no credit for it if he dies, and if he keeps the camera, he will likely die. Well, they all died.

Cloverfield was 2 weeks into release when Hannah Montana beat it. Of course something had to beat it. I didnt expect Cloverfield to overtake that anyways. Especially when the concert tickets were selling for over $10,000 alone. I knew Cloverfield wouldn't come in 1st in its second week of release. Not against Rambo. And with Meet the Spartans being PG-13 I knew it would be number one because of all the idiot teenagers who couldn't see anything else and thought it looked funny. Seems they forgot it was from the same ****ing retards who brought on Date Movie and Epic Movie. I hope someone kills those bastards before next January when we get another awful spoof comedy.

Wow. You hope people get murdered so that they can't make a movie simply because you don't like them?

You really should look into some psychiatric counciling. You clearly have serious issues.

It not only beat Cloverfield, it doubled it in money earned. And if it was in the same amount of theaters, thats reasonable, but it was 2,000 theaters for Cloverfield to 600 for Hannah Montana

To be fair, tickets for Hannah Montana were also roughly 2x the price of regular movie tickets.

They were $15.00 at my theater, due to the nature of the show and the 3-D glasses.

If they're so terrible, they wouldn't make money. Date Movie was shit, but Epic Movie was funny.

Regardless of the fact, hoping someone is murdered so they can't make a movie is psychotic.

Well I do not mean literally murder them. I did write that, but I really don't wish death upon anybody. Okay, I just hope they get tossed out of hollywood and are never allowed to direct another movie. It's just sad that these guys get funding and the amateur filmmakers out there with actual good scripts and talent cannot. I take it though that you have never seen these movies? They're so terrible. The execs at Fox are probably so embarrassed but when this shit pulls in $20 million in it's first weekend they are guaranteed to greenlight another.

They make money. Whether you like them or not they're being made.

People have different tastes in movies. So what if there's some folks making ones you hate?

Maybe so. But it's not like they're taking the money away from those filmmakers.

Nope. I've seen all of them. The first Scary Movie is still the best. Hated Date Movie (you can't parody romantic comedies, they're already basically parodies!), but thought Epic Movie was pretty funny. I'll be catching Superhero Movie this weekend as well. Sometimes I enjoy some mindless comedy. Not to mention, Superhero Movie wasn't made by the folks behind Date or Epic (It's the folks behind Airplane and Scary Movie), and has Leslie Neilsen. I doubt the Fox execs care, as long as the movie make money.

Superhero Movie is being released on the 28th, not this weekend. And it is not from these guys. It is from the Zucker guy (Airplane and Scary Movie 3). It should at least have some consistency unlike the previously mentioned films. I will see that one in theaters. For the record, I have not seen Meet the Spartans, but everyone I have talked to online and in person said it is far worse than Epic Movie and the dreadful Date Movie (which I was so lucky to only have ever rented and not blind buy).

My mistake. Mix-up with the dates of the movie release.

Yes, I know. I said as much in my post. I'm hoping it will be better than Epic.

I haven't seen that one yet either. Waiting for the DVD release of the film.

Well anyways, back to the topic. Cloverfield was utterly fantastic in my opinion. I will probably buy the standard DVD to hold me over until the eventual Blu-ray release. The sound quality will be so sick.

The sound will probably be average on DVD. I would wait till BD if I were you. Its too big of a release to hold out on BD. Same with There will be Blood and Sweeney Tod. Those will be out by May

What would be even better is a "Time" gift card.

Seriously, I know I have wished on several occasions that I could have back the time I spent watching crappy movies. Cloverfield was not one of them. Once on Blu-Ray, it's mine.
