Thankfully I missed it in theaters. Worst movie for me was probably 'My Super Ex-Girlfriend'. Ugh.

Oh. Duh me! I meant to state that on Blu-ray the sound quality will be sick. Yeah, DVD will be only mediocre at best. Probably won't even get a DTS track. It still amazes me how the audio that I have compared from my DVD's to my Blu-ray's (of the same films) are completely different. The rear speakers are used so much more and the sound in general is just a lot clearer. Replacing my DVD collection (action films anyways) is a must do for me when they are released.

I would say Comedies even make a differance.

Yeah you are right. I recently got Me, Myself & Irene and the rear speakers are used A LOT in the film. Cannot wait to pick up Mrs. Doubtfire in May. For action movies I meant along the likes of: Eraser, True Lies, Face/Off, Alien, Aliens, etc. Basically all the great action flicks not yet released on Blu-ray.

So is it true? Is Cloverfield really not coming to Bluray?

Not as of right now. Hopefully Paramount dishes out some type of information very soon.

I still say there will be no announcement from Paramount until shortly after Cloverfield hits DVD.

Hello? Is anybody home? (echo: home?...home?...home?...)

I guess this thread has turned into a crypt.

No Paramount or Universal BD release announcements yet.
Not even a peep.

Easter is coming this Sunday.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a big, fat, juicy Paramount or Universal Easter egg (press release) next to the chocolate bunny? There is still room in my Easter basket.

I'll even take a few jellybeans (shaped like Transformers).

Oh well. I guess I will have to watch the oldray DVD version of The Ten Commandments on Sunday.

It is sad if this is truely what you want. I want full aspect ratio. If the movie is filmed in a wide format, give me the full picture with the letterbox bars. I want the director's vision, not cropped crap! If you want to have the screen filled with a picutre, then buy a tv with a zoom on it. Then you may as well buy DVD beacuse Blu Ray is about full picture quality and when you zoom on a Blu Ray disc it will no longer be HD.

All right guys, here's my take on this. If its been said than opps.

Ok. Paramounts ditches Blu to go to the Dark Side. Then everybody on the Blu Crew starts sending e-mail and hate mail. Saying how much they suck eggs. Then the Dark Side dies and then we happily greet them back with open arms. They see this and think, hmm. Let's see what happens when we just announce that we're going to put it on just DVD.

It's a waiting game. They just want to see how long it takes us to crack and buy it on DVD. Or there has to be something else going on behind the scenes we don't know about. I mean you would assume they would just go ahead and put it out instead of just saying "if we did it wouldn't have no special features. So we're not putting it out." There's something going on.

Well doesn't it take like 2-3 months for the whole process for one movie? I mean if that's true then I would think that an announcement will come soon and they could be releasing as early as May right? Plus up until February or so they were only prepared to make duds, and I would think it would take time to get an agreement with the BDA and get their machines up and running again. I'm just going to be patient and dream of walking into the store and buying Sweeney. One day.

I just think its wierd that they don't have time to put any, let me repeat ANY special features on Blu. But there throwing features left and right onto DVD. Including 2 alternate endings. From what I've read and I could be wrong it's because they don't have time to put ANY special features so we're not getting anything. Right now.

If it is a "waiting game" they will be waiting an awfully long time for this consumer to purchase one of their DVDs. I swore off purchasing any more DVDs two weeks before I purchased my Blu-Ray player. I haven't bought one, although there have been several released that I would love to own. The real test for me will come with The Mist, but I am certain I won't cave.

Surly they are not trying to play games. That would be an ignorant and foolish business move, which is why I am positive that they are not doing that. All I know is they sure are pissing off a whole lot of people with their lack of announcements.

The reason they are not seen on SD TV is because the picture is modified to fill the whole screen and only when viewed in letter box can they be seen on an SDTV. So why on an HDTV are they still there?

Like I said before they are suppsed to be there. Even if you are watching letter box on an SDTC the picture is skewed so that it fits on the screen correctly (boxes are rectangles). On HDTV widescreen TV's boxes are now boxes and you can watch it as the director intended it!
