If you read Ken Brown's review from this site, it is mentioned in there: [Show spoiler] These movies are some of my absolute all-time favorites and I do think the overall picture quality is very good, especially the detail, which is much improved over the TE transfer, and the audio is some of the very best of any BD release, and with some minor picture adjustments for FotR, I am quite happy with it. ![]() If you don't notice the changes made to it, then don't try to look for it, and just enjoy these great films. ![]() |

This is a good price for The Lord of the Rings set, but I'm still waiting. I sold my big DVD Extended Edition trilogy with the big box and all, in anticipation of buying the Blu-ray set, but I'm sort of in a lull with these films and cannot get pumped up about watching them right now. The series will always be around on Blu-ray, though, and I'll always see good sales for this set on occasion. |

I got the LOTR set at Amazon for 54 bucks! Target also had it for 100 bucks which I decided to go with Amazon. I didn't notice the green tint on Fellowship part 1, but I did notice some yellow on some of the characters and the walls of Bilbo home and a dark shadow on Bilbo when he was looking for the ring which he had it in his pocket. part 2 was good, but it was kind of dark during the Moria scenes. Two Towers was good, the audio so far is amazing! now I'm on Return of the King.

I posted this in a deals thread...
I was at moviestop and saw the individual boxset releases for the EE's. Are there any differences between what comes in the individual sets and what comes in the trilogy EE boxset? I loved the artwork for the individuals + I'm not really an all-in one boxset type of guy so I was wondering if I was losing anything getting the individuals as opposed to the complete trilogy. Kind of like with Star Wars, I wanted the Prequel and Sequel trilogies separate because of artwork, but then someone mentioned the Complete Saga set has more than the individuals separately, so that kind of made me upset since the Complete Saga looks terrible. |

^ You don't have your location posted in your profile, so are you talking Walmart USA or Canada?
The only thing you lose with individual LOTR EEs is the sexy black cases of the original box set, but the last time I checked even the box set comes with blue cases now (at least in Canada where Alliance makes it). I'm not sure if the cheaper reissue in the US has black or blue cases today. Also, only the original box set has digital copies (now expired). The Complete Saga box is a really nice digibook (same in both countries). The individual Star Wars are just ordinary cases with a thin slipcover. Their artwork looks very cartoonish if you ask me (and has bilingual writing in Canada). |

I'm in USA.
I don't like the boxset's artwork, but I do like the separate artwork for separate trilogies since they're two different animals (Star Wars). I was referring to the LOTR. I like their exterior cases on the EE solo boxsets, compared to the complete trilogy EE boxset. I was just wondering if I lost anything in terms of features or special stuff that was exclusive to the complete trilogy boxset vs. individual releases. Someone mentioned in the Star Wars thread that the Complete Saga has special bonus stuff versus the Prequel and Sequel trilogy boxsets. |

I bought the set at Walmart the other day, and noticed the shrink-wrap was really loose. I figured it was re-sealed to remove the digital copy info. But the blue vs. black case thing had me puzzed, so I opened it, and saw the cases are still black.
Still kinda bummed they couldn't fit the films on one disc a piece. If they could get Lawrence of Arabia on one disc.... |

My preference was to buy the individual boxsets because I like them individually and their artwork ![]() ![]() ![]() Am I losing or gaining anything from buying the individuals as opposed to just buying the complete set? I'd prefer NOT to buy the trilogy box set and get the individual box sets separately. |
