Seriously so happy that Criterion is releasing Shoah. I can't even remember the amount of times I've been tempted to order some shoddy DVD set on eBay.

Shoah looks timed to release right after the B&N sale, but I hope I'm wrong...I want it badly.

While I'm not too familiar with the film, the subject matter doesn't intrigue me right away, so I'm not sure how quickly I'm willing to blind-buy on that one. The positive reaction must mean something though.

Isn't the B&N sale in July?

Actually, it does, and I'll probably shell out for Shoah during the Barnes & Noble sale.

I remember watching Siskel and Ebert At The Movies during the mid-1980s when I was a kid, and seeing them review this movie.

I'm hearing tornado warning sirens down the street from my apartment. This does not bode well for a peaceful evening watching Blu-rays.

Anyway, I'm thinking that I'll buy Things to Come and Wild Strawberries in June if the price is right, then spring for Shoah during the B&N sale the following month. April and May are low purchase months for me (Repo Man and Band of Outsiders are the only "priority one" Criterions.), so June will be fun.

Yeah, Gene Siskel gushed about it often.

I get the feeling that I'll be playing catch-up with the Criterion releases for the rest of my life ... not that that's a bad thing!

Default Wow! Great titles!

I am completely stoked for June. I will be buying everything on this list at the July CC Barnes and Noble Sale. This is my favorite 2013 month yet. Yes, I like it more than February! Shoah on blu! SHOAH on BLU!!! I posted just a few days ago that I would be more than happy with Safety Last (which, I still am,) but to get these titles- these five titles- is just heaven!

I am somewhat even more shocked at some of the "lackluster" posts. But hey, you can't please everybody!

True. I'm just now looking at the special features. I wouldn't have thought Shoah would've received additional films.

Isn't there a b2g1 sale usually in June at b&n before the 50% off sale?

my connection is going to new England after the 11th, so I can get wild strawberries through them as a gift.

I remember watching it on PBS. The New Yorker DVD didn't look much better than the telecast(!). I re-watched it about a year ago and didn't feel nearly as impacted as that first viewing which was just devastating, this is probably due either everything that's been done since (holocaust film-wise) or my awareness of history in general.

Eh, I hardly post here much these days either.

Started the cull. I'm watching two lane blacktop now, and it's just blah and isnt appealing to me. I can see the easy rider comparisons, but then, that's ranked 5th out of the 7 films in the bbs set. For a film.about racing, it's frightfully dull.

Two-Lane Blacktop is a fun film just to enjoy on a lazy Saturday afternoon, and simply drink in the performances. Warren Oates is a trip. This movie has the Harry Dean Stanton coolness stamp, although his character in this particular movie is not around for long. (...and I suspect that his character freaked out more than a few viewers during the time of the movie's release)

I always love the free-spirited feel of Two-Lane Blacktop. This movie came out the year before I was born, but I still recognize a lot of the types from seeing them during my younger years in the 1970s.

I am really glad they pick up a Harold Lloyd title (and the best one at that). My opinion, this movie is equal in greatness as The General and City Lights.
Agreed Fellini...the Lloyd will likely be the only day one purchase I can justify. Will have to save the others for July.

See,I'd thought I would enjoy it, since I'm a big fan of the era, but this film just isn't appealing to me at all. I don't hate it, but it's not a film I feel the need to own or watch again. I don't regret watching it.
